@leberschnitzel @peter_slwk my rationale is that the hand with more dexterity should be used for the pocket with wallet and keys, because it prevents dropping things by mistake, whereas the phone is a chunk big enough for the hand with less dexterity to deal with at the left pocket

For me it's situational. At home, I tend towards right pocket. At work, I put it in my left rear pocket because I end up throwing tools in my front pockets. Finally, depending on which pocket knife I'm carrying, I may put my phone in my front left pocket for ease of access.
