Okra and yoghurt are a common pairing and this variation is flavoured with mustard oil and red and green chillies. The okra is fried until crisp and then served with the kadhi (yoghurt curry).

It is a typical dish from Odisha. Odia cuisine uses less oil and is less spicy than many other parts of India while nonetheless remaining flavourful. Mustard oil is often used as the cooking medium.

@LifeTimeCooking I think even *I* would eat okra served like that, and you know how I feel about okra!
@LifeTimeCooking That actually sounds good! I don't hate okra, but I have never really enjoyed a dish it's in. Maybe this is that dish. Thank you!
@LifeTimeCooking Yum. You are reminding me of an absolutely delicious meal I had once (Gujarati?) of bindi bhaji stuffed with coconut, fried and served with dahi. OMG my mouth is watering remembering that meal. Now I need to try to make this dish too.
@nomdeb @LifeTimeCooking oh that sounds great - does seem Gujrathi or Marathi (I've had small eggplant like that)
@SRDas @LifeTimeCooking When I lived in Bombay we would spend a few weeks at my BFF's grandfather's house (part cow dung) in Mota (Gujarat) and that's where I had it. So many fond memories of those summer vacations. Hammocks and books in the mango orchard. Bullock cart rides in the sugar cane fields. Oh and chips (french fry) eating competitions. ;) The cook would make chips for us. I would win. <g>
@LifeTimeCooking
Looks amazing @ben we should try this
