@Tutanota "write freely" mostly suit for people who like writing. but still need improve.
@buage @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud
Even better:
Tiktok -> delete and don't use any alternative cause it's destroying your brain and wasting your time.
@theowashere @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud Imo, it depends on how you use it: if you just doomscroll, then just stop using it, but if you use it like 5-10m per day for useful content, then I'd say it's okay
@theowashere @buage @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud I find it incredibly ironic that a replacement platform is created for a service whose success is based on algorithmic content, on the premise that it doesn’t have an algorithm. Same with Pixelfed “Stories”. Stories were developed by Meta to feed algorithmic content to Insta users. Short videos are a mere distraction with very low value. Cheap to make, cheap to consume, forget them, repeat. Worthless. Re-think social media!
@dmian @theowashere @buage @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud Unless we as the consumers keep on using those platforms, companies will continue to milk them. Unfortunately, people won't give up their convenience for the greater good of social media

@dmian @theowashere @buage @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud It's federated, you can subscribe to PeerTube channels without leaving Mastodon 😀 You don't need an account on PeerTube.

For example, search for Nextcloud using search on Mastodon. There should be two results, one for Mastodon account and the other for PeerTube. Click on PeerTube result, follow, and you're subscribed to Nextcloud's PeerTube channel 😉

@Tutanota I like Vernissage better than Pixelfed for posting photos, it's more visual.

#vernissage @vernissage

@kallekn @vernissage oh don't knkw this piece of software ! Would you have some examples of people use it ?
@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud PeerTube is a good platform to publish videos, but not a good platform to watch videos. As a user, PeerTube is really bad: you can’t create an account (as a user), so you can’t subscribe. You can’t have a timeline like Mastodon, with your latest videos. Discovery is awful, and there’s no incentive to use the platform (it’s best consumed elsewhere, like Mastodon). I can’t consider it an alternative as long as they don’t address these problems.
@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud Ever since the maker of the pixelfed went on this weird rant about being pro vibecoding i havent used pixelfed 😂
@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud Ik heb Peer Tube bekeken maar mis heel veel muziek waar ik graag naar luister en kijk. Mijn favorieten zijn daarop niet te vinden... helaas
@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud
There's one even better than YouTube, Odysee.

@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud

I've been avoiding Ecosia since they started in with #AI services.

#NoAI

@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud Here's one more:

Google drive -> syncthing+borgbackup (sure, its a little bit of a pain to set up, but works great for sharing files and distributed backups)

@Tutanota don’t forget Lemmy!
Wait, that's the #Peertube logo? I'm surprised they haven't been sued by Nintendo. 😬
@argv_minus_one @Tutanota what, for resembling a Sierpiński triangle?

those proportions and colors are nothing like a Triforce.

@sodiboo

Perhaps not, but that hasn't stopped Nintendo from suing over vaguely similar designs before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palworld#Pok%C3%A9mon_plagiarism_allegations_and_lawsuit They're rather notorious for it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property_protection_by_Nintendo

@Tutanota

Palworld - Wikipedia

@argv_minus_one what Nintendo logo are you talking about?

@Mrfunkedude

It looks like a recolored, 90° rotated Triforce.

@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud I like NewPipe, Pixelfed seems a bit "thin" and my particular instance is not allowing direct video upload, UpScrolled seems a bit political but with some actual reality, instead of mainstream propaganda. Been on ecosia for ages - pretty good but some results differ from same searches via chrome,etc
@spaceotter @Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud @PixelFed @loops I checked out Loops a few weeks ago for just a few minutes and without following anyone; just scrolling through it there was a shocking amount of AI slop shown. Is that ... still the case or was that just a weird period
@Tutanota @Mastodon @ecosia @nextcloud You should refer to the OS GNU/Linux, not Linux. Using the term Linux to refer to the entire OS is unethical and unjust.
