For everyone curious about what’s coming next in #Vernissage, here’s the updated roadmap for 2026:

https://github.com/orgs/VernissageApp/projects/5

It outlines the planned work for the coming year, but it doesn’t include everything. Along the way, libraries will be updated, important bugs fixed, and other improvements addressed as they come up.

The roadmap shows the direction rather than a fixed promise for every single change.

As the year comes to an end, here’s a look at the roadmap screenshots showing what was done in #Vernissage this year.

Over 100 bugs fixed and features implemented - and that’s only what made it onto the roadmap. Many more improvements happened along the way.

It’s been a very busy year, and I’m really happy with how #Vernissage looks and works today. There’s still a lot ahead, but the platform is slowly becoming mature - and I’m optimistic about what the next year will bring. ✨

🎉 #Vernissage 1.27.0 is out!

This update brings multiple fixes and improvements:
- Fixed clearing attachments with histories
- Fixed downloading statuses without attachments
- Improved handling of remote usernames
- Added option to include posts/profiles in search engines
- Migrated to Angular Material M3
- Fixed sensitive image reload in SSR
- Improved gallery performance
- Hidden empty statuses in galleries
- More featured users shown

Huge thanks for all the support and help! 💙

Today I finally managed to fix one of the most annoying bugs in the #Vernissage web client. It was related to loading images and the browser crashing after scrolling through a dozen or so pages of photos. Now you can scroll as much as you want 😊

Fixing this also uncovered a few other issues - including some API-related ones. You might notice that only a small number of photos load at first, but that should stabilize over time.

After a few pretty intense days of work, I finally managed to migrate the app to Angular Material M3 🎉

The nice side effect? I was able to delete a surprisingly large amount of code (mostly CSS 😅). The app looks a bit different now - mainly updated buttons, colors, and overall styling - but it feels cleaner and more consistent.

The new version is already live at https://vernissage.photos 🚀

🙏 Thanks for all the help and valuable feedback!

Vernissage - Rediscover the beauty of photography

Vernissage is a photography-first social platform for sharing your work in high quality, discovering new artists, and building a thoughtful visual community.

A new report on the expenses for running vernissage.photos has been created. Due to the increased resources required for the Postgres database, the cost is significantly higher. I would like to thank the current Patrons very much for their support. ❤️

If you’re not supporting the platform yet, and you enjoy using it, I’d be incredibly grateful for even a small bit of support. Every little contribution helps keep the project alive - and it truly means a lot to me. 💛

November 2025 - Financial report

TL;DR: This month, the total cost of running the https://vernissage.photos platform amounted to $260.78. A significant portion of these costs was covered by patrons: $144.90. I am very grateful for this support - without it, it would not be possible to run the platform in its current form.Below is a detailed financial report for the operation of https://vernissage.photos during the month of Novemb

Today we’ve expanded Vernissage’s database resources (costs will increase by $200/mo), which also allows us to reopen registrations.

Please remember that nothing is truly free - photos must be stored somewhere, and if not by you, someone else has to pay. There’s no organization behind Vernissage, just private people. If you already have an account or plan to join, please consider supporting the project.

No ads, no algorithms, no data-hungry organization - just a platform for your photos. 💛
