What you describe fits that theory pretty well IMO
caskfan@thirstybear @GossiTheDog metrics such as counting the number of lines of code reinforce that way of thinking. I once worked on a project that measured the ratio of code to comments (supposedly as a measure of quality)

AI seems to be dragging us back: “Ooh! Look at all the code we can now generate! We can get applications done twice as quickly with fewer people! Never mind the quality, feel the width!” 🤦♂️
