Elon Musk took over Twitter and turned it into the anti-woke, fascist-amplifying X.

There’s been debate about whether to stay since he bought it. But seeing how it’s evolved and the recent Grok deepfake scandal, there’s no good argument to stay.

I stopped posting there. You should too.

It’s time to stop posting on X

There aren’t any good arguments left to stay on Elon Musk’s platform

Disconnect
@parismarx Genuinely surprised you stayed this long, but bravo for making the choice.
@reay If you read, I haven’t really been using it for quite some time.
@parismarx Leaving feels principled. But principled exits can also be self-selecting echo chambers in disguise, you feel cleaner, the platform gets less diverse.
@bayo @parismarx staying in a room full of fascists won't stop them being fascists. That's not how it works. Nobody is obligatted to visit the Nazi bar.

Why the argument that you have to stay on social networks to provide opposition is complete nonsense

Why the argument that you have to stay on social networks to provide opposition is complete nonsense

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> Author: Mike Kuketz, translated from the original in German The argument that you can’t leave platforms like X or TikTok because there would otherwise be a lack of “dissent” and “opposition” is untenable for several reasons - it’s simply complete bullshit. It is based on a false assumption about how these platforms work and what impact one’s presence there actually has.

@parismarx Good move ! And if you want to keep your network while leaving, check @openportability

@parismarx I loved Twitter. It took me a long time to "grok" it and appreciate all the madness and fun. The moment Elon Musk bought twitter, I deleted my account. I lost a bunch of connections and content that I couldn't get elsewhere then, but I simply couldn't stay. It was hard and painful, but life goes on, and now I have this little place on the net that remains fun and interesting.

Thank you all!

@parismarx
Did you delete your account?
@DaveMasonDotMe No, because I don’t want someone to take the username and impersonate me. I deleted all my old tweets.
@parismarx what took you so long? I dropped that s(h)ite the moment I heard Elon Musk was showing interest in buying Twitter.
@rozeboosje @parismarx don't shame people for behaving in positive ways.
@noodlemaz @parismarx Not everything is a put down.
@rozeboosje how else would you read what you said?
@parismarx It's about fucking time, people should have stopped the second he bought it.
