Maybe I'm not doing myself any favors by asking this, but what's your overall attitude toward Omarchy?

Okay, and I'm also interested in your opinion. 🤗

Omarchy

Beautiful, Modern & Opinionated Linux by DHH

Omarchy
@sherold Haven't used it, but I've mostly seen people on Discord saying that it is, and I quote, "a hot mess".
@ernestowg Thanks. That’s an interesting take. To me, it feels like the exact opposite. But that’s probably because, as a total noob, I haven’t worked with any other distros yet.
In that sense, I don't think my opinion is a good reference. 🤣
@sherold just a guy's personal preferences and settings neatly packaged into a distro except the guy is also a white supremacist

@stine @sherold Can you post links? My wife got into that and was like "I have to switch to that, I want my own stuff.." like this way I don't need to rely on your help..

To answer myself:

I wish I would have known that earlier..

Framework under fire for Omarchy/DHH/Hyprland support?

You might’ve noticed Framework, the laptop manufacturer, embroiled in a controversy as of now. The Discord server is on lockdown because the volunteer moderation team has gone on hiatus, and the Framework forum post about the controversy has been gaining unsightly amounts of steam from people disappointed at actions taken by Framework.

@thaodan @sherold wouldn't surprise me as those things seem to go hand-in-hand
@stine @sherold If those people only would not hide these things in dogwhistle's and rhetoric arguments.
@thaodan @sherold @stine You can read about his opinion on "gender ideology obsession" and "woke nonsense" on his blog. TL;DR yes, he is.
@qwertviop @thaodan @sherold thanks but i’ll take your word for it 🤭

@sherold I used it for a while and it got me into Linux more broadly.

I think its a very fun setup, and has a lot going for it. Ultimately it was a bit too tinkery for my liking. Ended up with Ubuntu instead, but wouldn't have gotten there without the Omarchy and Omakub projects, because they sparked the interest.

You'll likely get very different answers from Linux pros to longtime mac fanboys. I'm the latter category.
