These are the only native rabbits in Nova Scotia. Sadly, bunny dumping is a thing, so you might see bunnies hopping around in some areas. But this is a hare, and I haven't seen anything but hares in this area.

I was cautiously sneaking around the corner of a cottage, moving veeeeeery slowly, to get this close. :)

One more. I got this close, inching on my belly. Then, I am proud to say, I quietly retreated back around the building corner, with the hare still munching away. :)

@CStamp We haven't seen any so far this year.. I thought maybe hawks were feasting but then the wife noticed the carrots in her garden had been ransacked
@hasani That is cliche rabbit. πŸ˜€
@CStamp
So, hare today, gone tomorrow..
@CStamp
Bunny dumping in NS is real! πŸ˜‚ I was camping in one summer and, at dusk, about a dozen definitely not wild rabbits came out of the thicket and started munching on clover. My mom explained the whole Easter pet deal, which is kind of sad.
@ColesStreetPothole They should no longer sell rabbits in pet stores. It is really crappy. They don't even take them to shelters. :(
@CStamp I mean, they seemed to have a great life! Until they don't, that is. 😩 Predation and harsh winters probably do most of them in. And I just don't get itβ€”it doesn't take much to keep a rabbit.
@ColesStreetPothole Yeah, all that plus they don’t belong in the ecosystem.
