Part 3 of 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
The weather was perfect that day with almost no clouds!
Still the same day and spot, a few more images during sunset.
Used ND-filters for the long exposure images (1 & 4).

Part 4 of 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
After the sun has set, we're finally moving on to the next day image-wise!
Driving out of Reykjavík to Þingvellir Nationalpark:
Out there, we overheard a guide explaining that on some days you can't even see the lake due to fog! That's why I'm a bit proud of image 3, which consists of 7 single images giving view over the whole mountain range :)
In 4, you can see the summer residence of the prime minister.

Today I've got a bit of 🌈 magic for you!
And waterfalls...many waterfalls :D

Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur on #Route1 towards Vatnajökull
It was a great #hike up there, would have loved to have hiked even longer, but on the southern coast there were so many POI's during the 380 km trip between stays.

After a picknick, we're heading over to one of the most famous spots of Iceland: Jökulsárlón
Located in the Vatnajökull National Park, it is Iceland's deepest glacier lake and an incredible sight, where the big glaciers turn into a lake, forming small icebergs that then float out towards the ocean (foreshadowing the content of upcoming next posts).
P9 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
Icecold - inside a glacier.
Went on a guided icecaving tour inside an icecave that was exposed after the glacier has pulled back into the land in its yearly cycle.
P11 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
1) View from Höfn
2) & 3) Snædalsfoss
4) An icelandic beauty (they were so cute!)
On a different stage in the journey, we even booked a horseback ride - it was my first time on a horse, while my SO is a fairly decent rider. Maybe I'll post something when we get to that point in the journey :D 🐎

Today I have a funny one for you:
Arrived at the stay for the stage after a long drive at 19:00. After getting the room keys, we asked ourselves what to check out around Egilsstaðir:
I was like "I know a place, just a quick drive and a quick view and then lets head back and go to sleep" (we were already exhausted and next day was checkout again)
Well..we ended up doing a 2h hike up & down 300m to Hengifoss with almost no one around 😂
P14 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
Hiking in Stuðlagil Canyon with the frozen Stuðlafoss. Careful footsteps needed for that first image with camera and tripod in hand 😄
P15 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
Another breathtaking waterfall - Dettifoss in the evening sun!
The water falls 44m deep and Dettifoss itself is about 100m wide!
Images 3) + 4) showcase the local surrounding area.
P16 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
1) One last walk in Reykjahlíð before heading to bed back at the hotel.
2) Geothermic area around Reykjahlíð

"Is there life on Mars?"
(ok jk, these are still images of #Iceland , but the geothermal active areas do really look extraterrestrial!)
P19 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
Watching over the rim into the vast barren landscapes near Mývatn
P20 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
More impressions while fully circeling lake Mývatn (which translates directly into 'mosquito lake' - apparently they do get quite active when its sunny and windstill, luckily it was windy that day)
P21 🇮🇸 #Iceland2025
Back to the wonderful waterfalls of #Iceland
This one is Goðafoss, located in the northeastern region of the island along #Route1

Whalewatching in Akureyri.
1-3) A group of humpback whales showed up for catching their extended meal in cold waters after they spent the winter in the Caribbean.
3) was especially lucky, since this whale decided to dive up pretty close to the ship after feeding near the ground
4) The Hólmasól - the ship where the images were taken from
