Whalewatching in Akureyri.

1-3) A group of humpback whales showed up for catching their extended meal in cold waters after they spent the winter in the Caribbean.

3) was especially lucky, since this whale decided to dive up pretty close to the ship after feeding near the ground

4) The Hólmasól - the ship where the images were taken from

More impressions while fully circeling lake Mývatn (which translates directly into 'mosquito lake' - apparently they do get quite active when its sunny and windstill, luckily it was windy that day)

"Is there life on Mars?"

(ok jk, these are still images of #Iceland , but the geothermal active areas do really look extraterrestrial!)

Another breathtaking waterfall - Dettifoss in the evening sun!
The water falls 44m deep and Dettifoss itself is about 100m wide!

Images 3) + 4) showcase the local surrounding area.

Hiking in Stuðlagil Canyon with the frozen Stuðlafoss. Careful footsteps needed for that first image with camera and tripod in hand 😄
