I feel I have to block negative people. Who come into my mentions with "I agree with you but you are f***ing stupid if you think Trump will face justice."

As James Baldwin reminds us, "I never have been in despair about the world. I’ve been enraged by it. I don’t think I’m in despair. I can’t afford despair. I can’t tell my nephew, my niece. You can’t tell the children there’s no hope."

Do not despair my friends. Be angry. Stay angry. But be not hopeless. We will get through this. We will.

@QasimRashid
just tryna manage my rage.. channel it, harness it.....

@QasimRashid

cynicism has no place on the left

@benroyce @QasimRashid The left is exhausted and when they get negative, they need to be reminded what the goal is.

@benroyce @QasimRashid

It's coming though. Saw a few purity posts today criticizing what they have labeled Blue MAGA and advocating not voting for any Democrats that aren't sufficiently leftist because "They're all the same."

Swear this nonsense is just a rerun of 2024, and plenty of folks are on board.

It's the primaries, so yeah, elect better Dems, but this 'I'm not going to vote stuff' is ridiculous and dangerous.

@mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

not voting, and thus helping fascists win, in the name of scolding someone for not being ideologically pure

this isn't the left doing this, this is someone with ego masturbation needs. they may call themselves left, but they are not. they have self-serving psychological goals, not community-serving ideological goals

@benroyce @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid Or fake accounts trying to sway the elections.

@hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

yeah

1. ai chatbot

2. MAGA/ geopolitical trollfarm cosplaying left for toxic idealism psyop

3. entitled ego masturbation losers

who knows what these "don't vote" dingbats are?

i've stopped trying to figure it out

they just need to be opposed, period

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Emm i dont vote

Enger is a display of despair

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

are you unable to vote? are there legal reasons or perhaps you have a physical, social, or economic reason why you cannot vote?

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I dont legitimize indirect 'democracy' as a choice

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

but you do

you live in one

you are not in some castle in the sky

you live in a country, and it most definitely impacts your life

you seem like one of those entitled fools who does not understand the stakes you are playing in the game you are in

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Ofcs im fool its pointles to talk to me

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

and yet you present yourself before me

"Enger is a display of despair"

it's funny to see you write that. the despair practically drips off you

people telegraph their issues in ways they don't intend

and no one is talking despair here, but you

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Im to stupid to understend what u mean

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

"despair"

"pointles"

"im to stupid"

ok, cool. you do you friend. don't mistake your issues for our reality

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Aaa i know you mean im bad u good, u r wrong im good u bad

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

mor liike mee sober u drunk

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Sober = good; drunk = bad

Isn't it the same rethoric as previously, just covered with diffrent words and some extra new untestable assumptions?

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

i don't know my friend

i just want some of whatever it is you're taking

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I don't belive that voting doesn't make any sense

There is proverb in polish "każda władza ludzi zdradza" it's realy good rhyme and mean "every power betrays people" I recognize that indirect voting system is to degree some pressure lever but it's occupied with 'choosing your ruler' so Tramp is horrible for people but also he is natural consequence of insufficiency of this approuch

I belive in self-organizing society and voting once for 4 years was step in this direction but it has gentrified to deegre in wich i think it ruls out the point by on wich this system was established

Im choosing wider perspective by sacrificing easy profit. It's in my opinion better to organizie on specific direct actions and not choosing temp. kings in hope they gonna by better then other ones at maintanig our rights

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

What you say doesn't mean anything

Anyone can talk about what should be

To genuinely improve the world you need to engage what is

And you also have to scope your improvements to smaller goals

If you iterate you can achieve amazing things

But that process is hampered by people who just sit around and do nothing but talk about what should be. And then hilariously they attack those doing real work for having realistic goals and actions

@hosford42 @benroyce @QasimRashid

Some may be Russian trolls, and we certainly can expect these to be active because it has worked so well in the past, but certainly not all. Somehow these folks equate 'not voting' with strength and fighting hard for their principles. That their action (or inaction) actually hurts, and maybe kills, the people they profess to be fighting for is less important to them than this demonstration of 'character.'

@mastodonmigration @hosford42 @QasimRashid

they are entitled people

they will not suffer the immediate effects (they will eventually suffer negative effects, but they don't know/ don't care)

thus they allow themselves to view the topic of voting as an abstract concept, and have abstract ineffectual attitudes that only serve their sense of self-regard. they certainly don't serve their community

@benroyce @QasimRashid

Yes, outsized ego is certainly consistent with the syndrome.

@mastodonmigration @benroyce @QasimRashid

I always think of the Sanders to Trump voters when the purists come out. They always have a reason, I’m just not sure it’s always the one they give.

https://www.newsweek.com/bernie-sanders-trump-2016-election-654320

Bernie Sanders Voters Helped Trump Win and Here’s Proof

Bernie Sanders supporters didn't just stay at home, they voted for Donald Trump in significant numbers last November.

Newsweek

@fsinn @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

i voted for sanders in the primary

i gave him money

then of course, i voted for hillary in the general

because i'm not stupid

anyone on a sanders -> trump track is somewhere like a tankie: they aren't a real leftist, they are closet fascists

but we can ignore types like me, and tankies, because the problem now is people who just don't vote. they're a different kind of person. they're entitled

@benroyce @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid I don’t have any patience for non-voters by choice. Tantrum throwers IMO.

@benroyce @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I'm sort of inclined to another extreme, that is, vote and do more than vote. Move the party to become the vehicle for people that it should be.

@unruly @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

oh yeah absolutely

nothing about my championing of voting means i'm saying only vote

you do it all

meanwhile, anyone saying do all the good things except don't vote on the other hand, is a moron

@mastodonmigration @benroyce @QasimRashid Blue MAGA is a question you can ask at the primary. When the choice comes down to Blue MAGA or MAGA, the correct answer starts with Blue.

@su_liam @benroyce @QasimRashid

Very good point. The smart pick is Blue MAGA over Red MAGA everytime. One may disappoint you, the other may get you killed.

@benroyce @QasimRashid To be fair, I don’t think anything can STOP our cynical feelings—but our cynical feelings should stop at that. Don’t browbeat others with them or intrude on more important things. Don’t let them stop you from taking action. Certainly don’t let them stop you from engaging in “the least thing you can do” which is voting against increasing harm.
@QasimRashid I’m not convinced that the law will ever bring Trump to justice, but the law didn’t bust the Bastille open either. I have hope for something like that.
@QasimRashid all we have is hope that a miracle happens and they all face justice.
@QasimRashid 被”泼冷水“后,何必屏蔽呢?看看他们如何想,如何变,也是世事观察的一条途径吧。
Why block out the cynical comments? Observing how they think and how they change is also a way to observe the world.
@QasimRashid 🥰
indeed
there will be justice
🖖
@QasimRashid after all, dictators fall. Sooner or later. And usually to their deaths. Trump too.
@QasimRashid The people who are really desperate, they take pride in their submission to defeat. That’s the non-pointy end of the stick of authoritarianism. 🤔

@QasimRashid Blocking negative people is what I always do. Regardless of the circumstances, nothing good and useful comes from them.

Their defeatism is a self-fulfilling prophecy, because the world is asymmetric. If your goal is to win, you don't necessarily win. But if your goal is to lose, a defeat is pretty much guaranteed.

@QasimRashid
The Putinbots are especially fond of attempting to convince people that there's no hope in using the legal system or legislative system or voting, and we should skip straight to civil war and shooting each other on the streets.

It would help if Trump's little failures in the courts got more coverage, but most people seem quite unaware that most of the outlandish things he attempts to do to get blocked pretty quickly. The system is still functioning to a large extent, just not quickly enough to keep up with his edicts and the news cycle, apparently.

@QasimRashid if you want to fight, first fight the ones who are already holding a white flag up in the government, hoping they will win by default and not by actually fighting back, starting with Cuck & Hakim. With these spineless idiots in charge, pedo in chief and his thugs will go free or worse will get a slap on the wrist so no one else can hold them to account later. If pedo in chief says no midterms tomorrow, do you think these guys will do anything other than wanting to roll over? Nah.
@QasimRashid In real politics you can't be taken down, on a hunch. You have to do the actual misdeed.

@QasimRashid

Always time for a James Baldwin quote.

I get where the sentiment comes from - specifically, that all the counterweights are either relinquishing their control, or seemingly have no true power to change matters. Big fat emphasis on the "seemingly" though - but I do know it will probably take enough people willing to face humiliation, incarceration, violence and death to finally move the needle.

@QasimRashid so what's your plan then?

  • Cuz clearly the system either 'fucking sucks at it's job' or 'does exactly what it was designed to do' depending on how you look at it.

Like seriously, you should have clear "if X happens, I'll do Y" #RedLines for you to keep.

  • Otherwise you'll perpetually get goalposted into accepting shifts of the #OvertonWindow!
@QasimRashid The message they're sending to Trump et al is that they're *expecting* him to escape justice. That just encourages them.
