I feel I have to block negative people. Who come into my mentions with "I agree with you but you are f***ing stupid if you think Trump will face justice."

As James Baldwin reminds us, "I never have been in despair about the world. I’ve been enraged by it. I don’t think I’m in despair. I can’t afford despair. I can’t tell my nephew, my niece. You can’t tell the children there’s no hope."

Do not despair my friends. Be angry. Stay angry. But be not hopeless. We will get through this. We will.

@QasimRashid

cynicism has no place on the left

@benroyce @QasimRashid

It's coming though. Saw a few purity posts today criticizing what they have labeled Blue MAGA and advocating not voting for any Democrats that aren't sufficiently leftist because "They're all the same."

Swear this nonsense is just a rerun of 2024, and plenty of folks are on board.

It's the primaries, so yeah, elect better Dems, but this 'I'm not going to vote stuff' is ridiculous and dangerous.

@mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

not voting, and thus helping fascists win, in the name of scolding someone for not being ideologically pure

this isn't the left doing this, this is someone with ego masturbation needs. they may call themselves left, but they are not. they have self-serving psychological goals, not community-serving ideological goals

@benroyce @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid Or fake accounts trying to sway the elections.

@hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

yeah

1. ai chatbot

2. MAGA/ geopolitical trollfarm cosplaying left for toxic idealism psyop

3. entitled ego masturbation losers

who knows what these "don't vote" dingbats are?

i've stopped trying to figure it out

they just need to be opposed, period

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Emm i dont vote

Enger is a display of despair

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

are you unable to vote? are there legal reasons or perhaps you have a physical, social, or economic reason why you cannot vote?

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I dont legitimize indirect 'democracy' as a choice

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

but you do

you live in one

you are not in some castle in the sky

you live in a country, and it most definitely impacts your life

you seem like one of those entitled fools who does not understand the stakes you are playing in the game you are in

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Ofcs im fool its pointles to talk to me

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

and yet you present yourself before me

"Enger is a display of despair"

it's funny to see you write that. the despair practically drips off you

people telegraph their issues in ways they don't intend

and no one is talking despair here, but you

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Im to stupid to understend what u mean

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

"despair"

"pointles"

"im to stupid"

ok, cool. you do you friend. don't mistake your issues for our reality

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Aaa i know you mean im bad u good, u r wrong im good u bad

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

mor liike mee sober u drunk

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

Sober = good; drunk = bad

Isn't it the same rethoric as previously, just covered with diffrent words and some extra new untestable assumptions?

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

i don't know my friend

i just want some of whatever it is you're taking

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I don't belive that voting doesn't make any sense

There is proverb in polish "każda władza ludzi zdradza" it's realy good rhyme and mean "every power betrays people" I recognize that indirect voting system is to degree some pressure lever but it's occupied with 'choosing your ruler' so Tramp is horrible for people but also he is natural consequence of insufficiency of this approuch

I belive in self-organizing society and voting once for 4 years was step in this direction but it has gentrified to deegre in wich i think it ruls out the point by on wich this system was established

Im choosing wider perspective by sacrificing easy profit. It's in my opinion better to organizie on specific direct actions and not choosing temp. kings in hope they gonna by better then other ones at maintanig our rights

@sruba @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

What you say doesn't mean anything

Anyone can talk about what should be

To genuinely improve the world you need to engage what is

And you also have to scope your improvements to smaller goals

If you iterate you can achieve amazing things

But that process is hampered by people who just sit around and do nothing but talk about what should be. And then hilariously they attack those doing real work for having realistic goals and actions

@benroyce @hosford42 @mastodonmigration @QasimRashid

I'm doing my job, don't worry

@sruba @benroyce

best way to put it is this. I live in a rural area, where local elections can be won by a margin as small as one person, and the person you elect REALLY matters.

We have 2 candidates right now, 1 who has been in office and makes sure the infrastructure and transparency of the office is paramount, and the other that ran on a good ol' boy platform and is trying to say he's different.

if 1 person decides "voting doesn't matter" then ol' boy wins and we're back to square 1-

@sruba @benroyce
- because the ol' boy worked for one of the utility departments legit responsible for massive sewage ponds from broken pipes being left for 3 years until the current mayor came into office.

This is not allegory.

He's content to just pass the buck and leave status quo.

Now on state and national scales, it's this but with greater margins. Which is why people need to work together to vote, and not just dismiss it. Because that's how we backslide on our rights.

@ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe @benroyce

Local democracy matters more

@sruba @benroyce

No, National democracy is what determines my human rights and religious freedoms. Local democracy is what determines my infrastructure, specific local needs, regulations, and ordinances.

if we left it up to local democracy, my state would still have it's interracial marriage ban, which was repealed when my mom was a teenager due to national democracy.

I am a product of interracial marriage by the way.

Our current mayor also wouldn't have been able to run at all, just ol boy

@sruba @benroyce it's just that change is easier to see on the local scale, and you as an individual wield more influence vs you on a national scale as 1 among millions.

Votes matter, but it requires working together with your neighbours at that level, because only coordination can break through a system that has become entrenched.

Part of my family comes from a country where they saw the rise of a dictatorship. Even under those conditions, People still voted, despite the rigged elections.

@sruba @benroyce
People would get disappeared or tortured under the regime. I have distant relatives that this happened to.

People still protest. People still vote. Despite all that.

never let go or dismiss the rights you have still, because it's never a foregone conclusion until you let it be.

Don't take your ability to vote at all for granted, work with your neighbours to put coordinated pressure and candidates forward. Scale up.

That's how it works, but if we don't do that, or allow-

@sruba @benroyce ourselves to be split because of a lack of perfect candidates, it allows the opposing party that wants to dismantle progress to win.

There's a reason why our current mayor is the first black mayor in a town that wasn't fully desegregated when my parents started school.

Now we're up against ol' boy who WILL backslide us. This is happening all over at local and national levels.

The old beliefs are entrenched and status quo, lack of action will default us back to it bc of that.

@ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe @benroyce

Im apreacie your efforts and so on but i didnt came here to chenge mi mind in this topic only to present i have no enodrifne spike by making such explanations. Just in my opinion voting on big scale power with undismisable representitves within next four years sounds like delicuose cheese but it been put into midlle of a trap

@sruba @benroyce The reps arent undisimissable though, its cronyism and superpac funding making it seem that way.

Its fine if you dont change your mind, its on you to keep polishing the mousetrap instead of pulling the pins, but lack of action will always = supporting the existing system, and that will be the truth regardless of what you decide to do.

I dont have the luxury of standing by as my rights are currently in the crossfire with various bills and laws, and my ppl deported.

@ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe @sruba

thank you

are you listening you fucking whiny useless toxic idealist entitled pieces of shit in the usa?

VOTE

@benroyce @ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe

Bro, I'm from Poland

@sruba @ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe

what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

is poland not a democracy?

nevermind i can ask americans to vote. how does that possibly bother you? i wasn't even replying to you

@sruba @ToTheOneWhoHoldsMe

"Im apreacie your efforts and so on but i didnt came here to chenge mi mind in this topic only to present i have no enodrifne spike by making such explanations"

that's fucking weak

you come here, fling your shit, then cry mercy when someone pushes back

it means you don't have real beliefs, you're just an edgelord looking for drama. you *are* here for a dopamine hit

run away and hide if you want when challenged. but admit to yourself what you're saying is stupid
