Whenever some politician or party apologist whines about having to stay on twitter because some of our potential voters are on twitter, remind them that probably even more of their potential voters are on pornhub but they are not active there.
@etchedpixels The peeps from @punxsocial could have used that argument yesterday at their digital independence day :-)
@polypunk @etchedpixels @punxsocial I am perfectly fine with our politicians NOT being active on Pornhub.
Imagine (no, don't) accidentally clicking on a video of Merz humping Merkel..
There are some things that the Internet really does not need.
@etchedpixels we did have a Danish politician advertise on pornhub a few years ago with that exact argument.
@etchedpixels I did not know that bots could vote. Learn something new every day.!;)

@etchedpixels yes!

Yesterday at FOSDEM there was a question addressed to Alexandra Geese (a member at the EU parliament from Greens), saying why are not all politicians at fediverse? Her answer was like politicians are saying journalists are there.

LOL! Aren't journalists supposed to be where the politicians are, not the other way around?!

@alvan @etchedpixels no, journalists should physically be where the politicians are and monitoring where the politicians are online, but they should be in their distribution posts where the readers are. And most of their readers have abandoned the Xitter!
@alvan @etchedpixels that's the issue with social network - there are network effects.
But saying you're not on fediverse isn't a valid consequence, the only valid consequence is that you can't close your X account until a big majority of journalists are also on the fediverse
@bonno @etchedpixels yep. And they - in a way - should not close, because fascists also vote, and you must inform them as well. They just need to cross-post to the fediverse. That is all and no network effect is required.

@alvan @etchedpixels

huh. so they admitted out loud that politicians like them are just publicity whores and not thought leaders and legislators/leaders that journalists will naturally want to follow?

@paul_ipv6 not really; they want to be where the engagement is, and at the moment it is twitter. Tbh, I am not expecting them to close their twitter accounts, but they can easily post stuff here as well. There are projects to use to easily cross-post!

@alvan

"engagement" is really a misnomer. in social media, it's just views, i.e. "how many people look at my posts and hang on my words".

@paul_ipv6 good point. Now that you mention it, engagement could be more on fediverse (iirc, Hank Green also found this fact out by practice).

Yes, it is just about the views.

@etchedpixels i mean, they might be
@etchedpixels Well, that they are not is an assumption…
@etchedpixels they are totally active on pornhub.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@knowprose @etchedpixels When they're not on Grindr trying to get a hookup.
@etchedpixels It's like going to a Klan Rally for the networking opportunities.
@etchedpixels Please dont compare that filthy place to Pornhub
@etchedpixels i do not want any politician on the paltform. I want journalists that do not seek balance but truth to report what politicians do and say on the fediverse
@etchedpixels I remember when it was seen as bizarre and unserious for elected representatives to release official statements over social media like twitter.
@etchedpixels If I ever start a political party, we _will_ be on Pornhub.
@etchedpixels
Ok, now I'm figuring out politicians using PH for their rants and people who can't jerk off in peace complaining with the platform.
@lowlevel @etchedpixels there was actually the case of a video that got posted on one of these platforms because YouTube kept censoring it. Now I only have to remember which it was.
@etchedpixels One of those sites is full of people selling their bodies for a cheap buck. The other is PornHub.
@etchedpixels There was a guy teaching Maths on PornHub, so why not politicians explaining what they stand for? (Especially if they have strong opinions on censorship, sex work etc etc)
https://www.vice.com/en/article/math-tutor-video-lessons-pornhub-changhsu/
We Asked the Math Tutor Who Posts His Lessons on Pornhub: Why?

A math tutor has raked in over a million views on Pornhub by teaching calculus in a hoodie.

VICE
@etchedpixels in the name of... don't give them ideas!

@etchedpixels

oh they're there

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/ted-cruz-twitter-account-likes-porn-tweet/38400/

"U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is getting a lot of unwanted attention on social media Tuesday morning after the Texas Republican's account "liked" a tweet featuring a pornographic video tweeted by Pornhub."

@etchedpixels Oh yeah, they probably are. 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️
@etchedpixels
He probably just thinks those voters are wankers anyway.
@etchedpixels It just goes to show that being on a platform that’s ran by a racist SOB is more socially acceptable than being on a site where people willingly show their sexuality. Seems backwards to me that nazi is less bad than consenting sex work
@etchedpixels Great point but if the Epstein files are any indicator they may be one and the same
@etchedpixels @TheBreadmonkey Hoping nobody ever says this to Nigel Farage
@davidbcohen @TheBreadmonkey argh now my head is trying to imagine Farage slash fiction, and amusingly autocorrect tried to turn Farage into damage

@etchedpixels wasted opportunities.

(pornsites, not twitter.)

@etchedpixels

Well … not active as far as you know, at least. (-:

#Twitter #PornHub

@etchedpixels I am sure within the next few years we will see a politician with nationwide attention that has an onlyfans and actively campaigns in between feet pics.
@xarph @etchedpixels it's a great shame that onlyfans wasn't around when Lindi St Claire was running for parliament as the Corrective Party candidate.
@etchedpixels one of the small parties in town did run election ads on purnhub 😂
@etchedpixels That we know of! (They probably are but we don't talk about the unifying power of porn in "polite" company)
@etchedpixels And that's gonna stop them from making accounts there... how, exactly?
