Hello Mastodon!

I’m Avi Lewis and I’m running to be the next leader of the federal NDP. Very excited to be part of the Fediverse!

I’m running for NDP leader because it’s time for the NDP to return to its roots—fighting a system rigged for the rich that leaves the rest of us behind.

We can build a Canada based on care instead of greed, but only if we do it together. There are only 4 days left to join the NDP so you can vote in the leadership race, so get your membership before Jan 28th and let’s fight for a government that serves the many, not the money.

It's a great and nobel goal, but party brass has been working to make and keep the party playing status quo political games for so long, it's hard to believe it can be brought back to being a movement-based entity again. How do you hope to make it something that actually supporters social progress movements, and not just the least-bad voting choice?

I'm still waiting to see if he DOES, but I'm pretty sure he CAN.

Not without a plan, no. The execuitive controls the party infrastructure. They can undermine efforts for reform better than reformers can inact change, if they so wish. And they are elected themselves, in separate elections. The party execuitive and the party's parliamentary leadership are different, and not inherently aligned.

Sorry but there are lines that have been crossed here. They run for a party leadership? They should be held accountable for their own decisions. Sorry if I can't ask the question elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I agree they do need to shove off Xitter, That said, hostility certainly isn't what would motivate me to stay if I was a politician.

I am outraged as well, so could you please help me think of a more constructive way we can make our disappointment, frustration, and agnst known ? I too want them all to leave that horrible nazi den.

Ok, I'm signing up. Let's make this a "pro-" election, as in pro-social good, pro-climate action, pro-natural world pro-worker, pro-citizen involvement, pro-public service, pro-commons, pro-public finance, pro-UBI/UBS, pro-public housing. There is an implied anti- for everything, but we need to start rebuilding civilization along lines that look far into the future and which will benefit all of civilization, both at home and abroad.
