I will be offline most of the weekend so I'll bring forward my semi-regular news roundup.
One of our committee members was ruminating this week about how many municipalities or government agencies have left the X platform. So it's time for a bit of research to see if we can put together a decent list of government accounts that have made the easy and correct decision. Here's what I've found (west to east) but let me know if I've missed any.

A request for assistance from our Mastodon community, in or outside Quebec.
Recently Alain Saulnier, a Media expert & author, suggested that Quebec needs it's own communication channel to protect Quebec's culture. It would be helpful to introduce him to the #Fediverse. There are Quebec servers that support French Canadians and #PeerTube can hosted locally to give the province its own media channel. His suggested solution exists today.
I had an earlier post about municipalities leaving X and joining Mastodon and a thought occurred to me.
Cities and towns could benefit from having their own instance running #Friendica - the closest #Fediverse equivalent to Meta/Facebook. It would allow them to have separate groups for neighborhoods or communities within their municipality, and integrate easily with other Fediverse apps. It would give them more control and focus for their communications.
