So when Trump decides to go get Greenland he’s just going to fly in and kidnap our prime minister. Great. You have a unscrupulous and clinically insane idiot elected as your president and he wants to own the world. I have absolutely no trust in any of you Americans whether you are pronounced MAGA or if you “didn’t vote for the guy”: Your elected president is a megalomaniac dictator and it’s your fucking responsibility to stop him.
@luhmann let the fucker kidnap #putin and all his doubles and parade them in mar-a-lunacy
#trump #maduro #Venezuela #ukraine #russia
@hanscees tbh people should 100% plan to rescue people from dictators, lakashenko and putin

@luhmann

International OUTRAGE is necessary and expected of all world leaders. This cannot be allowed to set a precedent in any way.

#USA is now an international TERRORIST STATE.

@RichRARobi

@luhmann

I mean, yes but why only NOW? 😅

@haui @RichRARobi @luhmann
Because now is better than not 🙃

@RichRARobi @luhmann

is now? it's been a terrorist organization since forever

Vietnam and agent orange?
Afghanistan and the drone wars?
Guantanamo bay and torture prisons in Iraq?

the list just keeps expanding

@amici @RichRARobi @luhmann It started from the foundation of the country. It always has been a terrorist state, illegally occupying stolen, and still being stolen, land.

@luhmann

Simply the truth…

@luhmann I'm sure the outrage in Denmark and the rest of Europe will be swift and total

Expecting to wake up to Russian-level sanctions against the US 🙄

-----

I know this will make me sound like some MAGA fuck, since you don't know me, but...

This is what Europe gets for spending the last 50 years complaining about the US dominance in everything instead of planning & spending their own money on defense in anticipation of Trump

The US defense policy has been that we would have to fight a two-front war, on our own. That's left us in a rather dominant position.

Europe's position has been "the US has our backs"

🤷

@codebyjeff @luhmann ...and the US earned nothing the past eighty years selling overpriced, underperforming arms to European "allies"?

Any idea when the F35 will start working properly?

F-35 program faces delays and software challenges

The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program has officially entered full-rate production following an Acquisition Decision Memorandum (ADM) signed in March 2024. However, new reports from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Director, Operational Test & Evaluation (DOT&E) highlight ongoing challenges with software integration, production quality, and mission readiness. @codebyjeff @luhmann that’s not the problem at all. the problem is that europe has been aiding and abetting the US, and doting on it, despite insanely exploitative transgressions like triggering article 5 to make innocent brits and danes go die for bush cheney and shitrael’s little lies about afghanistan and iraq. “complaining?” 😆 shit-drinking nazi idiot hick 🖕

@luhmann against my better instincts to simply make my point, and walk away,

here's what I woke up to:

"Starmer won't be drawn on whether US strikes on Venezuela broke international law"

No mention on BBC or AP News yet of any reaction from any other country

@codebyjeff @luhmann So what's the deal, the US is being a big international bully, we should crank up to be bigger and badder bullies? That kind of escalation logic only leads to more stupid shit happening worldwide...
@Idaho @codebyjeff @luhmann I think a first step would be for all Non-bullying“ countries to stand together and tell the bullies to go f themselves. That was basically the idea behind the UN. Of course, a true Reanimation of the UN won‘t be easy and I have not a lot of trust in our politicians to act accordingly, but what else can we do?
@ahm42 @codebyjeff @luhmann We'll see what to do when the situation becomes too dangerous for our freedom...
@luhmann @codebyjeff The German Bundeskanzler will describe the legal situation as „complex“.

@luhmann I understand your anger, but don't blame the citizens. Their social safety nets and education systems have been dissassembled for essentially our entire lifetimes.

Not to mention the election was probably fraudulent. People don't say it online because the left doesn't want to sound like far right nutcase conspiracy theorists, but tell me you don't privately believe it was fraud.

If any of us had to face the odds they were facing, we wouldn't come up much better.

@BoysenberryCider @luhmann

The only rigging that happened was to convince the gullible to vote Trump or at least not vote at all.

The amount of "GenozideHarris" talk I saw (even here on Mastodon) before the elections was staggering.

Also, she wasn't left enough, etc. etc....

Hiding that behind some conspiracy theories might make you feel better, but face it - the US voters unleashed this idiot into the world.

@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann Now the question is certainly how much of "Genocide Harris" was actually an organized astroturfing campaign: somehow all these people were very resistant to facts: "Trump literally endorsed genocide: Bibbi do it this time properly", and the US election system is not one that allows one effectively not to vote -> the GOP or the Democrat candidate will win. No real way to provide reliably for a stalled result or other outcomes.

So all the "GenocideHarris" people, by logic, should have been running to the polls voting for Harris, as Trump was always the bigger genocide supporter, and it was clearly Trump OR Harris, no other outcome possible, but that was not their conclusion.

Which smells somehow odd, when one applies "Cui Bono" to it.

@yacc143 i voted for Harris, because while I had a ton of issues with her, I knew she was far better than Trump.

@yacc143 @BoysenberryCider @luhmann

Exactly. Pretty sure that this was a propaganda thing and a lot of gullible voters fell for it.

@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann Let's say it was one of the suspicious many "voting demotivation campaigns" that were running for Harris.

The right-wing extreme a-holes have learned their lessons well; it's much easier to change the individual "turnout" decision than to change the political alignment, so the Harris campaign saw a number of "demotivation topics" thrown their way.

@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann But as somebody else said today on my timeline, at sometime, it is not relevant, if you are a MAGA true believer or "I didn't vote for Trump" poster, you'll be splashed with his fragrance.

When the Allies bombed Nazi Germany, they did not carefully select the targets to only hit Germans who voted for Hitler. The bombs fell on all Germans.

Yes, electing a-holes is a convenient method to wash your hands in innocence for dastardly deeds the bastards do…

But at some point the pretence ends, and the bill is presented to whole nation.

Side note, as I noticed it today, how exactly is it that when foreigners drop with parachutes and kidnap somebody without being legally authorized to do so, an arrest?

@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann denying that the USA engages in huge amounts of voter suppression at every level is actually the conspiracy theory, here

@sidereal @BoysenberryCider @luhmann

But the fucked up system of voter registration and gerrymandering is not what gave Trump this victory. The counts were pretty clear, way above what those factors could contribute.

@mndflayr @sidereal @BoysenberryCider yeah, we have plenty of people who supported him, but you can't ignore that the electoral college and the gerrymandering means that many people's votes literally don't matter. Btw, what's the longest you've ever waited in line to vote?

@mattg @sidereal @BoysenberryCider

Never had those problems in Germany.

@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann For a lot of people, the hope was to pressure Harris to move further left. And of course that kind of rhetoric was amplified by the right: it was to their advantage. We're struggling in an overworked, underpaid, oligarchy which has been this way for a long time. There are almost no guardrails against fraud and misinformation here. It's a hugely uphill battle and any fighting back is not being publicized.
@mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann Look up Broadview facility in Chicago as an example. People are waking up and fighting. Support the people fighting back, don't just shit talk us from your couch.
@WatchForBones @mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann Anyone who shit-talked Harris to push her left was a fool and a tool. We can thank you for this new illegal war.
@jhavok @mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann Lol ok Jimmy. I actually never did that. I just have empathy for people who did. You know...empathy...the emotion that separates us from the Nazis.
@WatchForBones @mndflayr @BoysenberryCider @luhmann I have more empathy for the people the tools and fools have harmed.

@jhavok @WatchForBones @mndflayr @luhmann While recognising that this comment is intended more as a reply in a somewhat hostile thread than a true statement of belief:

May I suggest empathy for both? It won't kill you, and might help everyone.

After all, those well meaning people were deceived by right wing cunts in think tanks who had enough empathy to understand what they needed to hear. If your movement is going to have legs, don't you think empathising with *all* of your base might help?

@BoysenberryCider @WatchForBones @mndflayr @luhmann I'm not sure that machiavellian manipulation should be called empathy. And I'm disgusted with people who can be manipulated with hate.

@jhavok @WatchForBones @mndflayr @luhmann Manipulation requires a degree of empathy, in that you have to at least understand the victim instead of completely other them. Typically a real sociopath would read a report by someone more insightful.

And my friend...you are literally being manipulated with hate. Take a step back and think about what I mean. Ask yourself, who does bashing liberals, 'I told you so' and purity spiralling serve?

@BoysenberryCider @luhmann If you can’t blame citizens for the actions of their country, what is the alternative, the rest of the world coming in for “regime change”?

@rigrig @luhmann Now that is a false choice if ever I've seen one.

You can despise a government and take action against it without being shit to the citizens of that country.

Maybe ask why you feel the need to justify judging people who can't do anything about what you're angry about?

Is there maybe some more productive way to make the world a better place that doesn't involve hating people based on their passport?

@BoysenberryCider @luhmann I’m not hating people, and I know the US is a pretty shitty place to be for most of its citizens.

That doesn’t change that I feel the primary responsibility for a countries’ actions lies with it’s citizens.

I don’t know if I’d do better, but that doesn’t make it right.

@rigrig @luhmann Ask yourself how much you believe democracy is actually in effect right now. How much the actions of any government represent 'the will of the people'. In a good country, maybe 50%?

It's more comfortable to blame whole groups for the awful things going on, because you can reach those people, but none of the people actually responsible will read your toots. But Americans will, so it feels like action.

Citizens are just sheep being fleeced, hating them won't change anything.

@BoysenberryCider @luhmann move beyond voting now, like the US expects Russians to do
@luhmann I wonder where all the trigger-happy supporters of guns are, that claim they need them to stand up against an evil and fascist government
@truls46 @luhmann Trigger happy supporters of guns likely support the USA’s current action because inexpensive energy for their trucks is an American value.
@truls46 @luhmann the thing is getting numbers. One off people will just end up dead. Plus, what are the odds of even getting past the planning stages?

@luhmann

^ ARE YOU LISTENING TO JOACHIM, NONVOTERS? ^
