Living happily far from home. Interested in meditation. Here for art, poetry and calligraphy.

I pay respects to the traditional owners of the land I come from and the land on which I stand.

I'm not a "pronouns in bio" type of person but I support trans people and just about every other kind of person.

On Press Freedom Day, let's remind everyone that journalists need protection, also online. 📰 🌐

My winter eyes blink,
unaccustomed to the blaze
of spring's bright dazzle.

#WorldPressFreedomDay means that we all should honour the brave journalists doing their job in our local communities, crisis regions or under authoritarian regimes. But to me it also means that I call out those that do not take press freedom seriously and instead focus on themselves and their personal privileges. Looking at you, White House press corps. Many of you have become note takers that give up the right to ask in favour of being allowed there. That's not the press we celebrate today.

Vending machine: Thank you for your purchase.

Dawkins: Wow, you are sentient and conscious, but only in this fleeting moment, for the next time I buy fig newtons, I will meet a new unique being!

Vending machine: Have a nice day.

Dawkins: I’ll see you in Xanadu, my sweet innocent Vendra!

One thing that continues to make me sad about my redundancy is that I had just developed a new module on #Personhood. I only taught it for two years.

I did it because I felt personhood - how we define it, as individuals or communally; how we give it to some and not others; how personhood ideas shape the world we build and the world in turn our sense of self - is so core to everything. Still think this.

Maybe i can develop it into an online thing of some kind? Idk.

It's ironic to see those same global elites who love partying with the likes of known & convicted child sex-trafficker Jeffrey #Epstein now urging worldwide restrictions on E2E / #VPN & promoting age, biometric, and identity verification online - all in the name of protecting children

It’s also highly suspicious that so many of the world’s biggest countries
are trying to implement this wider #internet control at the same time.

Feels like a major push toward #authoritarianism to me.
