in love this neat phone/tablet stand that you can print in place
some of the first prints i made were the utah teapot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_teapot) and a low poly version of the stanford bunny (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_bunny) because i'm a huge nerd
and, of course, i printed a (modified) #benchy that was included on the flashforge. this seems to be pretty different from the original...
sadly, i am running low on filament now. i ordered this printer from a different online distributor since i could get it super cheap and the filaments i purchased are being sold separately. the other filaments i have ordered will arrive this week, though, and i'm very excited to show off prints in these colors!
the flashforge came with their own in-house burnt titanium multicolor pla, the ones i'm looking to show off are polymaker's panchroma pla in some more bird and fops related colors
turns out that #benchy was an IMPOSTER BOAT which was preloaded onto my FlashForge and not the original boat
but here they be. had just enough filament left for one!
i found out the flashforge saves timelapses of all your prints, so here's the #benchy being printed
i really liked this gear fidget i printed in black earlier but they didn't fit nice around my fingers so i printed two more in purple and green and a little bigger using a 0.6mm nozzle
i printed some low poly birds! sadly, their underfluffies didn't come out as good as i hoped. i tried printing one with supports but didn't manage to get rid of the overhang. maybe with a 0.4mm nozzle i'll have more success?
i found the need to make a filament tracker in a spreadsheet... i want a rough estimate of how much filament i have left in a roll so i can plan how many prints i have left. i'm rounding up to the nearest gram on each print so i'll always have some left over to account for whatever waste when swapping filaments, etc. that way i can get the most out of roll, i feel! also, it'll be nice to track my prints in general.
i'm using the filament id to be able to input it as shorthand and calculate it with =(G3-SUMIF($PrintLog.C:C,A3,$PrintLog.D:D))
very fast 3d brinter going at very hihg speed
and yeah i know the bed adhesion isn't going great for those two little end guys here's a shot of me trying to fix it
nvm they turned out perfect functionally
this balisong/butterfly knife/comb model is probably the coolest thing i've printed so far
i dont have a filament problem, i have a lack of filament problem
a complex print job didn't work out like i wanted it to so now i'm printing myself an emotional support low poly 3d bulbasaur
testing out some fuzzy skin 3d printing techniques with this rabbit; the slight texture doesn't come through as well on camera but is definitely adding to the look and feel irl of the print
i no longer respect sunlu wood pla. it has failed to print a benchy TWICE. it JAMMED MY PRINTER and made me accidentally scrape a flake off of the textured bed. be warned. 😒
working on a filament swatch system now that i finally got a label maker...
btw, these swatches: https://www.printables.com/model/1005904-bambu-lab-filament-swatch-with-12x22r2-label are made to show you how each filament handles transparent prints/vase mode at different layer heights AND they're bambu lab swatch holder compatible. i think it's really neat
i'm not joking that this hyperfixation on 3d printing has actually improved my mental health. this has been a great creative experience and i feel like i'm constantly trying new things and learning the limits and also new benefits of the medium. i am very privileged to be able to do this but god it is a fun time. i wish everyone could be able to print stuff like this at their homes or local libraries. our library lacks a 3d printer. i might frankly buy and donate one and stock some filament to them. people deserve to have this technology in their hands.

@chirpbirb Fuzzy skin is the best, especially on a fuzzy bunny.
If Orca has paint-on fuzzy skin, you could probably flood-fill all the surfaces that aren't the eyes (or flood-fill the eyes with "remove fuzzy skin") and save some time.

@[email protected] i think this is because i printed the model that came on the flashforge and not the one that's on thingiverse. i'll have to go back and print a regular benchy with the official files!
