I tried a machine learning model to determine if a picture of a keyboard was SFW
it said no, because it detected the escape key as a nipple
I showed it a picture of me holding the laserdisc of Disney's The Santa Clause and it said it wasn't SFW, because of Tim Allen's breasts and my Penis Hand.
of COURSE I tried a thinkpad keyboard, and no, it didn't identify the TrackPoint as a nipple. I'm sorry.
I also tried the other way: giving it NSFW images.
I can't show those, but it did pretty abysmally. it spotted a penis in one, but an image of two people having sex that was shot from the side? marked SFW. A softcore shot of BDSM? SFW

I tested to see if it wasn't programmed to detect clitorises (clitorii?), thinking maybe it the thinkpad pointer is a clit and not a nipple?

NOPE! I tried turning the detection threshold way down and it managed to detect 27 overlapping pussies (their term, not mine) but zero clitorises.

So I guess it just can't detect clitorises. shame

man, this thing loves to mark my thumb as a penis.
I tried running it on some VHS tape covers but instead of noticing the woman in a leotard on the cover, it told me it was NSFW because my thumb at the bottom of the image was DEFINITELY a penis
this is anti-thumb prejudice!

I tried a photo where I was wearing nitrile gloves while holding up a phone, and it didn't mark my thumb as a penis this time!

it did mark my blurry wife in the background as a sex toy, which is more offensive tbh

if I lower the confidence threshold enough it'll detect my pupils as nipples
I keep trying laserdisc covers and it keeps telling me NSFW and then points out the thumb in the corner as a penis
kinda want to run it on my entire photo library and see what it marks as NSFW.
yeah I don't know why that specific pluot is a penis
I ran it on a photo of me holding a box of Rice-A-Roni, and it marked my hand TWICE as penises, and the "A" in Rice-A-Roni as an asshole
@foone so in conclusion: dicks EVERYWHERE? 😆
@foone I think the person they trained it on might want to see a doctor?
@foone those sneaky penises hiding in plain sight
@foone you’re holding it wrong 😉
@juandesant I'M NOT HOLDING THE LASERDISC WITH MY PENIS
@foone sorry, it was just a play on Steve Jobs’ “you’re holding it wrong” iPhone 4 antenna gate conference… I know humans don’t have prensile penises, but clearly that model does not know it 😉
@foone @juandesant you sent an image of you doing just that HERE.

@foone I remember the lego penis detector. Kids are too clever for those. Dong detection is damn hard.

Nowadays they have better state of the art dong detector algorithms, thanks to the japanese donut detectors....

There are other sites but this was readily available
https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/l8enni/til_that_there_was_a_lego_mmo_that_was_cancelled/

@foone maybe it was trained on thumbs instead of dicks
@meph @foone 100% what a government would do, since they wouldn't be allowed to use actual NSFW pics.

@foone

Maybe stop doing such sexy thumb poses hmmm??

@futurebird I can't help it!
@foone @futurebird hm, what's the opposite of penis envy?
@foone that seems disrespectful somehow
@foone
Somehow the men who wrote the feature requirements forgot that. It is truly a mystery.

@petealexharris @foone

”When the first Native Americans saw Columbus's ships, some of them literally could not see them, because they had no category for such a thing. Their shaman looked at the sea and saw only a strange disturbance on the horizon. Only when a canoe went out to investigate did the shaman's perception change, and then he could see the ships.”

such is the clitoris.

@foone that's a heck of a post to be at the top of my feed when I opened Mastodon this morning.

Good morning to you too!

@foone clearly programmed by straight men
@foone i was lowkey wondering about this since i always call the thinkpad nub the "clitmouse", but i felt weird asking a total stranger about that while throwing that wording around LOL
@foone clitorides, according to wiktionary
@foone I guess that settles the Thinkpad anatomy debate?
@foone Thanks for anticipating the question that’s on everyone’s mind
@foone But that's called a "clit mouse", not a "nipple mouse"?
@cm good question, maybe they never programmed it to detect clits. lemme try a different source image to confirm this
@foone I guess it was programmed by males, and we all know how hard it is for us to find the clit...
@cm could be! this one definitely doesn't seem to be able to find the clitoris
@foone @cm huh, it's no worse than the average man
@cm
Something something g-key
@foone
@foone @cm hold on a bit…
@foone it should be ok because it's obviously a male nipple
@foone i’m afraid to ask what it thinks about trackpoints
@domi I tried! but it didn't seem to want to identify it as a nipple
@domi
At work we used to refer to these as "keyboard clitoris", so in my personal opinion trackpoints are never SFW...
@foone
@foone to be fair, you do do keyboard crimes

@http_error_418 I haven't made a nipple keyboard yet!

although I did talk to my wife about making a Bra Keyboard

@foone @http_error_418
That keyboard has to have a "female presenting lock" just to make it more fun for the censors
@foone presumably it detected the escape key as a female nipple, as a male one would have been fine 🙄
@foone

Thanks, now I need a bra keyboard for a wearable cyberdeck project.

@http_error_418
@foone rather than a giraffe?
@shelldozer I don't think it was trying to detect giraffes
@foone
We are in the stupidest possible arms race between people trying to use (probably the same) AI to automate both the generation and detection of pornography.
