@kkarhan IIRC They're not made in China; The GPU's are made in Taiwan and the PCB's are largely made in India.

The GPU's entering the country are largely being smuggled in; though I'm surprised there's not more bare silicon being smuggled in and put on domestic purpose built boards; You could certainly fit a lot more of them in a shoe box in the middle of a shipment of Bananas.

@krutonium AFAICT even the H200 are assembled in Mainland China, and even if the yield rate in QC is a blistering 99% that would still mean hundreds of GPUs per week that get rejected for minor defects like having only 1 NvLink working.

• AliExpress is flooded with SXM2 -> PCIe Adapter Boards to the point that it is obvious these get pilfered elsewhere and then imported otherwise...

@krutonium In the end it's easier to buy an #RTX5090 in mainland "P.R:" #China than it is to buy #HavanaClub in #Germany, because for the latter one you'd have to be 18 and depending on "age-passing" expect to ID your age at the cashier of the store before being allowed to fork over money and get out the door with it.
