“Bite my rusty, metal ass!”
Day 23: Rust
Time-lapse process for Day 23: Rust
It’s amazing how subtle changes in eye position can make a character look spot on or “off”. Struggled a bit with Bender’s eyes here. Didn’t want him to look mean or have “resting robot face” but slightly drunk or off-kilter with his rusty beard growth. Very fun to draw. #Inktober #Futurama #HumanArt #LineaSketch
“We came here in peace, we expect to go in one… piece.”
Day 24: Expedition
Time-lapse process for Day 24: Expedition.
Be sure to turn your sound up on this one! 🎶 Also, remind me to never draw a nine-sided technical object ever again. 🥴 This made me want to continue watching SG-1. I stopped somewhere at the start of S3 and need to keep going.
My drawings for the second half of Inktober. Favorites this time around are probably 13: Horizon and 15: Guidebook. I love drawing eWorld stuff so that one was super fun to create. There’s only a handful of days and drawings left… where did October GO!?
“I think I’ll miss you most of all.”
Day 25: Scarecrow
Time-lapse process for Day 25: Scarecrow.
No sketching, just drawing and it turned out okay! Will try to do more like this in the future if I can work up the courage. #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 26: Gamera
I’m not sure I made the right color choices on this one, could be a lot stronger I think but the play on words was still fun to draw and I love shading with halftone dots. 🤷♂️ #Inktober #Halloween #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 27: Road.
I debated in my mind if I was going to actually draw this one and I decided I had to. Like most of you I simply cannot believe millions of Americans are prepared to embrace Trump and the fascism, lawlessness and racism he represents. I feel like I’m living on another planet. I hope we all soon learn our fears were unfounded. I hope. I hope. #Inktober #USPolitics #HumanArt #MastoArt #LineaSketch
Day 28: Jumbo
Time-lapse process for Day 28: Jumbo.
Yes, I drew an elephant but I tried to make him as adorable as I possibly could to make up for my lack of cleverness.
Hard to believe but there’s only three days/drawings to go. Crazy.
Day 29: Navigator
I still carry a grudge to this day about Farscape being cancelled way ahead of its time.
Time-lapse process for Day 29: Navigator
This was so horrible at the very beginning I almost trashed it and went with a different idea. Stuck with it however and was happy how it turned out.
Could say that about a lot of things in life I think.
Two to go!!!
Day 30: Violin
Day 31: Landmark
Time-lapse process for Day 31: Landmark
That’s a wrap on Inktober 2024. I hope you enjoyed following along as much as I enjoyed drawing. Inktober helped keep me sane in the run up to this stupid election so I figured it was fitting the final entry was about casting our critical ballots.
Thanks to all who liked or commented on my work, it really means a lot to me. I’m actually looking forward to next year, I just hope the prompts will be more exciting. 😐
Day 1: Mustache
Time-lapse process for Day 1: Mustache
Channeled Edward Gorey for this one, I have always admired his work. In college I wrote him to ask permission to use The Gashleycrumb Tinies in a school project.
I was delighted when he wrote me back & crushed when he said no. This was in 1994, pre-internet, only for class but he still said no. I never forgot it.
So I’ve always tried to give permission for my stuff when I can because of him. He died in 2000.
Day 2: Weave
Time-lapse process for Day 2: Weave 🕷️
Note I flipped the lower corner content around at one point because I wanted the dungeon to appear like it was beneath the haunted house above. 😊
Day 3: Crown 🎃
Time-lapse process for Day 3: Crown
This was one of those times when what I saw in my head and what ended up on the page were quite different. Sometimes it just doesn’t translate properly but that’s okay, it’s still pretty fun and spooky. I also added that final bit of background color long after I had “finished” the drawing, needed *something* back there.
Day 4: Murky
Time-lapse process for Day 4: Murky
This one was inspired by one of my favorite online artists @csilverman. His use of color is amazing and his art has a unique otherworldly feel that I attempted to channel here to the best of my ability. This may end up being one of my favs from #inktober2025 I had a lot of fun creating it. Dark, spooky, and telling a story. 😱
PS - If you don’t follow Chris, I highly recommend following him. Such a treat.
Day 5: Deer
Time-lapse process for Day 5: Deer
Not going to lie, this one had me vexed. Sometimes it’s the simple ones that are the hardest. 🤔
Day 6: Pierce

Day 7: Starfish
Time-lapse process for Day 7: Starfish.
Seen quite a few Patricks today so I’m glad I put a little extra spin on mine at least. Also happy I managed to get his smile to show through his ninja mask. 🥰 🥷
Day 8: Reckless
Time-lapse process for Day 8: Reckless
Sometimes the simplest ideas and treatments are best. I love the dichotomy of the adorable couple combined with the impending doom of their relationship. As Willy Wonka said “The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.” 🌵🎈💥😅
Day 9: Heavy
Time-lapse process for Day 9: Heavy.
I love how much our understanding (and depiction) of black holes has changed since I was a kid. Tried to capture some of that here. Some. 😅
Day 10: Sweep 👻🧹
Time-lapse process for Day 10: Sweep
I took my time with this one and used really light strokes to try and get an old world book illustration feel. The background took *forever* and I changed it multiple times. Still not sure I’m happy with it but it is what it is. 🤷♂️
Day 11: Sting
“The Quest stands upon on the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true.”
Day 12: Shredded
I can’t believe I’m still drawing political cartoons about DJT almost a decade later. Worst. Timeline. Ever. #Inktober #USPolitics #FediArt #HumanArt #LineaSketch
Time-lapse process for Day 12: Shredded
Think I got his tiny hands and awful bronzer right.
Day 13: Drink
“My advice to you as your doctor is to start drinking. Heavily.” 🥴
Time-lapse process for Day 13: Drink
Day 14: Trunk
“Very exciting. As a luggage problem.”
Time-lapse process for Day 14: Trunk
This is my obligatory plug to say if you’ve never watched Joe vs the Volcano with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, you really should. It’s a movie unlike any other. Symbolism and allegory galore, a kind of modern day fairy tale that is an escape for just a few hours. Plus it’s damned funny.
“I wonder where we’ll end up?”
“Away from the things of man. Away from the things of man.”
Day 15: Ragged
Time-lapse process for Day 15: Ragged.
I try to break out of my comfort zone occasionally and just draw without sketching first. This was one of those times. It results in a less tight style but it’s hard to adjust proportions and shading taking this approach, at least for me. Still came out pretty fun in the end though.
Day 16: Blunder
Day 17: Ornate
Day 18: Deal
“This deal is getting worse all the time!”

Time-lapse process for Day 18: Deal.
Lotta fiddling with this one. Wasn’t happy with the clown shoes at all until I fixed them near the very end. Really proud of Darth’s eyes, lots of time and attention there. We’re more than half way through now. It’ll be over before we know it!
