@siracusa stop with all this madness you are suggesting!

@boxofrain @siracusa @stevenodb 13% yes at this very moment seems higher than I would expect.

(I’m No, but I know that over Christmas my mum for sure has ornaments that break the outer screen perimeter)

@siracusa
I’m sure your audience for this is somewhat self selecting - but “who does that?”
@siracusa I have items that are extremely close, but I can’t stand any minuscule portion of actual lit-up display being obscured.
@siracusa Of course not. I’m not a monster!
@siracusa what kind of monster puts anything in front of the TV (only partly /s)
@siracusa of course I just came into my living room to find…
@siracusa I voted no but my cat says otherwise
@siracusa no, but only because I put an IKEA shelf under my TV to lift it above the soundbar.
@ismh86 The inspiration for this poll.
@siracusa
Less than top-notch…in fact, it is a bottom notch.
@siracusa I'm terrified that you would ever even get a glimpse into how I live
@siracusa @ismh86
What is that, a sound bar? Tell me it's not the stand.
@freediverx @siracusa @ismh86 And more importantly, why is there an elephant under your TV?
@ismh86 @siracusa I do the exact thing. It’s not even mounted to anything, it’s just a solid black two inch riser with the tv sitting on top.
@ismh86 @siracusa borrowing this idea straight away!
@siracusa I like to feel that my TV is a hidden artifact in a verdant jungle.
@hipvictor Extra bonus points for also potentially blocking the subtitles.
@siracusa I’m like Indiana Jones uncovering a lost inscription.
@hipvictor @siracusa Indiana jones and the puppy bowl of destiny.
@hipvictor same here. I voted yes mostly because plants.
@hipvictor so is your homepod, that must do wonders to recreating the muffled jungle noises.
@stevenodb there’s a second half of the stereo pair tucked into the other side. So, it’s Dolby atmos certified immersively muffled jungle sounds.

@hipvictor @siracusa

Same here. Bottom left of TV just slightly obscured by leaf of an indoor plant. I used to move it every time I watched TV but got tired of that.

@siracusa I paid for all those pixels!
@siracusa I mean, I have young kids, as a practical matter there is often stuff that gets in to that position and sometimes what is playing isn’t that important. But when I watch my movies, no, absolutely not,
@siracusa an Apple “notch” at the bottom and a plant that is annoying when I am sitting on the right side.
What can I say… my wife wins
@pfernandes @siracusa If you can't hang it on the wall, I'd at least put something under the feet.
@pfernandes @siracusa do you use the HomePod mini as a speaker for the tv?
@pfernandes @siracusa You can easily solve the situation by buying a second speaker and get halfway OK stereo setup. But I think all the visible cables are a worse offence than the edge of the speaker in the picture.
@siracusa The very top of my switch blocks about an inch (maybe even less) of the bottom left corner of my TV (as they both sit on the stand directly). It's almost impossible to even notice, but it does technically do that.
@siracusa My mom puts different seasonal decorations or plants on the table below their TV, and occasionally a tall one will stick up an inch or two into the TV picture. I make her move it every time I’m over there, but bafflingly, it doesn’t bother her at all!
@siracusa I have kids. Gazillions toys block the view :)
@siracusa Rarely there will be displays on my media center (usually kid art) that block a tiny bit of the screen. I know it must drive some of you crazy, but it’s really such a tiny fraction of the screen area that it doesn’t obscure anything
@siracusa Voted yes. I hate it. But I’ve lost that battle with my family.
@kkarayannis @siracusa I get how it can happen, but the idea that anyone would argue to not make the thing go away is 🤯 to me.
@masukomi @siracusa they won’t argue. They just don’t care. I can move it. It’ll just be back the next day. It’s not a single object. It can be a toy or flowers or whatever.
@kkarayannis @siracusa I’m sorry that you’ve lost this battle, better luck in the war
@siracusa Depending on what’s set up on my side desk at any given moment I sometimes have a synthesizer or some attached cables off in a corner. Never intentionally though but fairly common.
@siracusa Blocking the TV is deranged and some kind of weird torture fetish thing. 😂
@siracusa Yes. The very tops of two HomePod minis for my living room tv. I hated it at first and had every intention of fixing it. It’s been about a year now and I don’t even see it anymore.
@siracusa I keep a drinking glass there.
@chockenberry @siracusa You don’t just drink straight from the faucet in front of your tv?
