@atpfm Day one listener and experienced developer here. I have an itch for a Mac app but zero experience in Apple’s development ecosystem. The web and youtube are flooded with tutorials and resources, but it’s hard to tell which one are worth my time. Do you have any recommendations for starters? What are the knowledge bases that you use on a daily basis during development (e.g. documentation on the framework, swift and swiftui, etc.)?

Stephan Fleet—VFX supervisor of "The Boys"—made a great video about logistics and safety, politely debunking an internet bozo who asked "why didn't they JUST film it practically?"

Don’t call it age verification. Call it centralised personal data collection. And understand that it serves surveillance, not safety for children.
@streetartutopia Unless there's a fixed webcam that's miraculously stayed in place there despite every building around it being leveled then this is AI generated. Both images have pixel-perfect identical framing, which is impossible to achieve years apart even in perfect conditions. Given the abundance of genuine photographic evidence of the destruction of Gaza it seems unhelpful to spread AI-generated approximations that risk feeding zionist narratives about fabricated evidence.
Pass it on!
One of the coolest things about honey is its theoretically infinite shelf-life. 3000-year-old jars of still-edible honey have been found in Egyptian tombs — they used it medicinally for all sorts of things. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-science-behind-honeys-eternal-shelf-life-1218690/

A slew of factors—its acidity, its lack of water and the presence of hydrogen peroxide—work in perfect harmony, allowing the sticky treat to last forever

Hey fediverse, happy Monday!

In case you missed this, over the weekend I made a mini zine version of https://jointhefediverse.net.

You can print it here: https://jointhefediverse.net/zine

It's available in almost 30 languages, just like the website.

But I need your help translating the zine page itself!

Would you be interested?

Yesterday at the hackerspace, a friend had forgotten the password to their (demo / showcase) computer.

Luckily, the convenient new sysadmin tool “copy.fail” saved the day! With one line, we could get a root shell and set a new password 😂

Way easier than rebooting into init=/bin/bash. So convenient! 2026 is truly the year of Linux on the desktop :P

The robots give you the impression that you have to think less.

Incorrect. It’s more. Don’t confuse velocity with quality.
