The dinosaurs did not "Rule the Earth".

They were just alive.

Stop giving them credit for administrative skills they likely did not have.

@dgar I don’t think rulers or tape measures were invented back then either.
@dgar they also failed to fuck it up.
@cgerhard @dgar i feel like there's a lesson to be had here regarding ruling.....
@dgar We could have taught them so many skills 😔
@dgar yeah, it's likely the rulers of earth were exactly the same during the times of the dinosaurs as they are now: ants
Phase IV (1974 film) - Wikipedia

@stekopf @dgar I'd rather compare it to the Wells story that one was based on
@dgar how do you know, huh? Huh?? You weren't there!
When Dinosaurs Administrated The Earth

@dgar When you're good, you're feckin' amazing!

Keep it up.

@dgar I would have dropped the word “likely” but I kinda like the possibilities that it leaves open.

@voichick @dgar

When you look at how much would actually survive from human civilization in 65 million years, there are a lot of possibilities that we can never actually be sure about

@dgar you're just jealous because humans have done such a bad job.

@dgar

come on, listen to this fabulous episode of Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs by the incomparable Natee ( @Himmapaan ), Gemma, and Marc , and repent.

@dgar Sounds like the one from WAP(World Animal Protection), only different from ancient age dinosaurs.

@dgar But they were BIG!!!! Everyone KNOWS that the biggest one wins!! If you can stomp the other animals to death that means you're the king of everything!! That's why we must continue to stomp every other living thing on earth to prove that we tha best and teach that damn ecosystem that we deserve to make all the decisions and it should just stop whining by staging those mass extinctions and extreme weather and respect our authority!! /s

(My take on how authoritarians think)

@dgar If we're not careful, fascists are going to rule the earth with utterly zero administrative skills. You don't need administrative skills to "rule" if ruling is just brutalizing everyone else.

@dalias @dgar It'll fall. This is actually part of the illusion. They put total blubbering dipshits at the top, but under them they've got their smart people who are more in on the real plan. The whole government is being replaced.

Logistics and administration are absolutely essential. They'll figure it out or they'll crash hard and USA will shatter.

@dgar They were pretty good stewards of the planet though.
@dgar they were actually an anarchist collective
@dgar The smart ones were carted off to the delta quadrant.

@dgar

does that not apply to the monstrous intellectual throwback nature of our current admin, too?

#NeoReaganomics

@dgar Oops! Big Oil-osaur rules again under oligarchs greedy lies.
@dgar and stop thinking that ruling is the meaning of life

@dgar I have actually written a piece containing the sentiments, that certain groups have mistaken theft, and lying with governance, and when it comes to certain organisations in a certain country it is global domination type of governance ...

PS. if you like reading, let me know to publish the piece; maybe I include your observation too, if you want

@solomon_schloosser

Publish it for you. 🫶
I’m sure many here will read it.

The observation above is not mine. I found it on Facebook without credit.

@dgar Wow man, no respect for how much Beancountosaurus saved by cancelling the space program?!

@dgar they were the biggest and hungriest and didn't care much for those smaller than them.

Substitute $ for weight and I'm not sure there's much difference today, equally lacking in administrative care I'd say 😹

@dgar

The GOP has the same skills.

There is a lesson there.

@dgar Everyone blames the meteor, but it was really their own declining morals that did them in.
@dgar
... while also implying it was them who wrecked the environment back then

@dgar

Our current "Ruler of Earth" has no administrative skills either 🤷

@dgar
Now I've got a vision of HR absolutely doing their nut coz tryna get T. Rex's desk to comply with ergonomic standards is a fuckin windup with those #TinyArms.
@dgar Everyone always goes on about how the dinosaurs ruled the Earth and made oil (they did neither). Then someone has the gall to ask if the chicken or the egg came first!
@dgar So Tyrannosaurus Rex was not really a 'tyrant-lizard king'? :)
@dgar but it's more fun that way 🙁
@dgar Add this to the pile of reasons why hereditary monarchy never ends well.
@dgar most of the earth's surface was ocean then too. and there were no fully aquatic dinosaurs...

@dgar

Tyrannosaurus rex was a two-finger typist.

@dgar but I saw a documentary that showed they did 🤣
@lilstevie Not the Mama! 🤣
@dgar fun fact, the exact phrase I used to search for a suitable gif 🤣
@lilstevie I was going to post a gif in reply, but I just found the same one except with “Not the Mama” written on it. 🤣

It could be said that humans don't rule the Earth either.

We don't have a single global government or anything more than regional alliances of convenience based on arbitrary borders and selective historical precedence.

We just exist and consume resources without regard for any overall sense of global wellbeing.

@dgar

@dgar
To be fair to the dinos, humans haven't done a great job either. I think I'd match their planetary administrative skills against ours any time. How many species did they drive to extinction?
@dgar
It was more like an anarcho-syndicalist commune.
