Watch Haptic Trailer - Apple TV+

Apple TV
@caseyliss Call me crazy but I kinda want them to release a version of it once it’s on ATV that keeps the haptics for all the driving bits.
@caseyliss maybe just a little bit overdone, but definitely fun 👍🏻

@caseyliss *when viewed while _holding_ your phone

I had mine tilted up and was thinking “yeah, ok… looks and sounds fine, but I’m not going to watch the whole thing”, so I picked up the phone to close the trailer, then fianlly realized what the intention was

@caseyliss plus, for the first 30 seconds I thought it was for a movie called “Haptic”, because the actual name of the movie is not shown anywhere in the thumbnail or in the title of the video
@caseyliss Now that is clever! Makes me think of the enhanced (read "overpriced") haptic seating at some theaters. (Cinemark calls it DBox.)
@caseyliss I was pleasantly surprised that the haptics correctly adjust when you change playback speed. The 0:45 crash at 0.5x speed is a great example.
@caseyliss bonus challenge: start playback on the Vision Pro at the same time, then sit on your iPhone for the full experience! 😁
@caseyliss my head went straight to the gutter
@caseyliss Fun side note: doesn’t do haptics if you’re using HomePods for audio output, even if you’re holding your phone. Un-fun side note: Brad Pit is older than I am and he is freaking *jacked*. Brad Pit: continuing a life of wrecking the curve for the rest of us.
@abrahamson I read this while treating myself to a handful of Doritos.
@caseyliss i am curious, what is happening, i dont have an iphone
@utf_7 @caseyliss The iPhone vibrates according to the sound, especially the car driving noise. It’s a cool effect.
@caseyliss IMHO, haptic is overused. Very effective when the car is running (you can feel gear changes!), but every switch or movement devalued the haptic overall. Needs more discretion.
@caseyliss didn’t Apple Music come up this last year?
@caseyliss Oh yes, interesting indeed — definitely a strong effect, at least as a one-time impression!
@caseyliss I think I can watch my battery drain in realtime while watching
@caseyliss @siracusa Hm. No effect here. iPhone 14pro … iOS 17 - ist this trick only working with iOS18+?

@nSonic @caseyliss @siracusa

I had to enable Vibration in Accessibility to make it work.

@konjunktiv_vii @caseyliss @siracusa I just saw the AppleTV+ site with all trailers. There is the information: you need iOS 18.4+ 🤷‍♂️ (I’m still on iOS 17)
@nSonic ohh okay. Too bad. But Imho You didn’t miss out on anything. It‘s kinda fun but not that big of a deal.
@caseyliss Reminder that Apple Music also got the #MusicHaptics feature a while back: https://music.apple.com/us/multi-room/6670447147 Kinda fun with the right kind of music.

@caseyliss I wish there were APIs that allowed that amount of control over haptics. I wouldn't want all apps to use them, but I would love to see what devs with good taste could do.
@caseyliss it was neat but the timing was slightly off from the video.

@caseyliss if you rotate your phone it’s almost like you’re driving

Also the soundtrack sounds like it’s gonna be good
