Joe Vinegar@contrasocial @randahl not an historian, but I believe that every fascism is driven by a murderous desire for homogeneity, which includes religion practice (when religion leaders are embedded in the state and not a competing power). Minorities that due to numbers are not a political or cultural threat can be temporarily tolerated until fascism is in power. In general a religion is tolerant by definition when it's a minority, while it is used as a criterion for diversity, discrimination, and ultimately genocide, when it becomes the norm in a fascist-turning state.

Armenians, for years Ukrainians (before 2022), never got a fraction of the media attention Palestinians have on European media and politics. Other conflicts have even less, but it's mostly geography at play.

The governed population has varying capability of being informed, is not homogeneous in culture, values, political identification, and acting capabilities. Referring to christians, muslims, jews, europeans, is really nonsense, as we bunch together a wildly diverse set of people and conditions, and interests and values.
