The Christian Armenian population there since centuries was either murdered, arrested or expelled by the Muslim Azeri army all in less than 48h. Absolutely no one cared, so much that you don't even know about it. This was in 19 September 2023. I don't even need to dig Yugoslavia examples that would also prove your post wrong.
Joe Vinegar@bossito @randahl I think we can agree it's not a matter of religions per se, but of nation-states politics: state diplomacy is dictated by national economic and military concerns first, strongly influenced by the governing party/dictator narrative, ties, and interests. The governed population has varying capability of being informed, is not homogeneous in culture, values, political identification, and acting capabilities. Referring to christians, muslims, jews, europeans, is really nonsense, as we bunch together a wildly diverse set of people and conditions, and interests and values. Zionists* (to me christian USAns can be zionist) instead express a political project, so in their inner diversity they are still identified by a goal, which I can despise specifically without fear of generalizing or discriminating. *violent ones
Joe Alexander@joe_vinegar You wrote all that to say it's only bad when "Zionists" do it. You said Christians, Jews and Muslims don't have political goals and are one group. Just be critical of Israel, don't throw out all reason to do it. You entirely dismissed things like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a religious state (you said it has no goals, they funded 9/11...).
The fact that you go to such great lengths to let everyone else off the hook for being brutal seems like you don't so much love them, but hate just one group - no matter what. I hate whataboutism but you've done the reverse, you've said Israel is brutal and all other forms of state violence aren't even really a thing! Just look away!
