First coach is for checked luggage, the second one is this seater car. It was empty and locked but with the lights on the entire way I think. Then the sleeper cars. #ViaRail#CanadienNational
Lounge cars with WiFi on each side of the dining car, followed by, well, the other half of the train. At some stations we would stop twice, first for the sleeper, then for the seated cars. #ViaRail#ocean#TrainTravel
My sense of humour: bus number 777 takes us to the casino. Walking away from the bus stop (or out of the casino after losing all your money...?) seems to be unthinkable. #Montréal, #Québec#Canada #Casino#Bus#Line#CarCentric
@partim@serac Yeah, the refitted the 1950s stainless steel heavyweight coaches in the 1990s with very 1990s seats. Those are gradually being phased out with the Siemens Venture sets (roughly, Railjet redesigned for North American crash safety standards).

@serac When a Canadian engineering student graduates, there is a ritual called the Calling of an Engineer(written by Kipling no less) where they are presented with an iron ring to be worn on the pinkie of their writing hand as a reminder of their obligation not to screw up. Rumor is the steel these rings are made from is from the wreckage of this bridge - that's FALSE, sadly, but its such a metal story I can't help but perpetuate it, ironically (heh) in violation of my oath.
@serac Interestingly enough, not only does the ring serve as a reminder of one's professional societal obligation, it can also save your fingers - I had my hand slammed in a car door once and that ring saved two of my fingers from being mangled.
If you work with high voltages tho, you gotta take it off.
