@serac When a Canadian engineering student graduates, there is a ritual called the Calling of an Engineer(written by Kipling no less) where they are presented with an iron ring to be worn on the pinkie of their writing hand as a reminder of their obligation not to screw up. Rumor is the steel these rings are made from is from the wreckage of this bridge - that's FALSE, sadly, but its such a metal story I can't help but perpetuate it, ironically (heh) in violation of my oath.

@serac Interestingly enough, not only does the ring serve as a reminder of one's professional societal obligation, it can also save your fingers - I had my hand slammed in a car door once and that ring saved two of my fingers from being mangled.

If you work with high voltages tho, you gotta take it off.
