white smoke just came out of our router... this means that the DHCP conclave has ended and a new IP address has been selected
@Ninji either that or the piston rings are cracked and that's oil smoke.
And, if you're running your router so hard it is smoking, might want to back off the Internet for a while LOL.
and black smoke just means the router burnt the toast (damn multi-function machines)
Electronics are different - when the magic smoke is released the device is dead and even the god above (working though the new pontiff) can not make it work again...I know this from many mis-wired home automation gizmos.
@Ninji But has their NAME been updated too?
If smoke is coming out of your router, I don't think DHCP is your biggest problem. π³
