Exciting stuff! I now have my own #GoToSocial instance up and running on my home server. Still doing some maintenance tasks and running tests to make sure this is ready to go, but so far this is looking really good and the setup was incredibly straightforward as well.

macOS Tahoe UI has a HUGE new feature for folks like me who have 24/7 Mac Minis running and access them remotely: you can now type the boot password remotely via SSH!

Power on the Mac, then SSH to it. A simple SSH server will handle your request. Typing the password there is equivalent to typing it on the keyboard. The connection then closes and the machine boots normally.

Combine this with "Start up automatically after a power failure" and you can ditch that KVM! #macadmins

A bit of background context, i'm working on a React stack with React-Bootstrap to kinda do as less CSS as possible and still look manageable. This has worked quite nicely so far, until I now have a big page with quite a bit of content which makes it overlap with my Navbar and my Table auto-adapts to its contents, which is a problem because you can use a pagination to switch pages and the table resizes whenever you do that, which makes the page move around all the time. I'd love this to change.
I'm in need for some advise / help with CSS in one of my open-source game projects. My Hitster game implementation is supposed to work for sighted people and visually impaired people alike, but i'm blind and trying to fiddle my way around CSS makes my brain hurt and takes ages to still achieve nothing. If you feel like investing a few minutes into a hobby project that already brings alot of joy to many people and want to help improve accessibility for sighted people, please get in touch.
Update: I finally found a solution that works really well for my server monitoring needs, #Beszel. Lightweight, easy to set up and the web UI is super screenreader accessible as well. Only part that isn't accessible are the various graphs, but at least you can see the current values for disk usage, network throughput, disk I/O speeds etc. https://beszel.dev

Just like that, Pocket ID is up and running on my home server. Integrated it with audiobookshelf so it now uses that for authentication, instead of username / password. ShelfPlayer also supports it out of the box, yay! Overall, this has turned out to be a whole lot simpler than I had imagined when setting out to work on this.

I can’t see an end, I have no control and I don’t think there’s any escape – I don’t even have a home any more...

Definitely time for a new keyboard.

OK OK, seriously need to remember to turn off the speakers attached to the iMac in the other room when I'm not there. Nothing scarier then, after an automatic update, Alex suddenly starts blaring ‚Finder is launched in the background‘ from afar when you least expect it.
Yes the app’s source code is available on GitHub, so at first I figured I’d just download and compile that myself. Turns out this isn’t a native app though, no no no, it’s a React app. So even if I set up the necessary software stack to get that compiled, who knows whether it would actually be fun to use with VoiceOver. Guess that means I’m back to square one, looking for a different audiobook streaming solution altogether.
