The US Department of State, acting on orders of very questionable legality, destroyed my new, already printed, waiting to be picked up passport for only one reason: it listed my sex as "X".

Even before I transitioned, people regularly got confused about my gender...

Now my appearance is so androgynous that I have had multiple doctors be genuinely unsure of my sex assigned at birth when examining me in person, and my birth certificate has been ret-conned to state I was born this way.

@ryanc “We can’t issue you a passport without a notarized government document that establishes whether or not you were born with a penis.” Is now the official position of a government run by people who claim to favor a limited government. This position is creepy AF. It’s an invasion of privacy. It’s also intentionally cruel. I’m angry that you must experience this.

@ryanc I filled out the form. “The purpose of a passport is to establish identity. The purpose of a passport is not to establish whether or not a person was born with a penis. If the state department is unwilling to produce passports with genders inconsistent with gender assigned at birth, then passports should be issued with no gender or sex at all, as gender and sex are unnecessary to establish identity. “

@dekk Yup. I have had people not believe documents that list my sex assigned at birth multiple times.

Doctors have been genuinely unsure when examining me due to how androgynous I am.

@dekk I literally have no such document. My birth certificate lists my sex as nonbinary. There is no way to prove whether one with a binary gender was issued at birth or not or not because California law requires that revised birth certificates for trans people be indistinguishable.

Legally, any #trans* and/or #nonbinary person is declared retroactively said gender as their AGAB.

Which is why @AuswaertigesAmt advises against travelling to the #USA for any trans* and/or nonbinary person.

Von der Masse an gesammelten Daten (siehe #CloudAct) mal ganz abgesehen...

Wenn die das nicht per #OSINT oder zwangsweisen Eingriffen feststellen, dann erzwingen die einfach entsprechende Heausgabe der Unterlagen unter Androhung von unbegrenzter Haftdauer unter Folterbedingungen und Abschiebung - Gerne auch ins "Budget-Guantanamó"...

Sorry, I was thinking by the way I was taught, but I totally disagree with the 2 sexes law, first the world is not black and white, second is denying a person to be who they want to be, America has always been called the land of the free, but really is it?

@Articwolf It's petty cruelty for the sake of "vice signaling" and scapegoating. Echos of what happened with same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile, the UK claims my birth certificate isn't valid and over £400k in legal bills have accumulated in my efforts to sue for legal recognition of my gender here, and Kemi Badenoch took retaliatory legislative action to spite me.

@ryanc Still, I would've rather filed for theft and destruction and fled the country by any means necessary.

This setup rings too many historically evidenced alarm bells to me!
