We need a new system. Two parties are hardly more difficult to co-opt than one is, especially when Supreme Court case law protects American corporations and billionaires buying politicians and parties outright.
Whichever new party replaced the old one would be part of the same broken system, encounter the same financial pressures and enticements, and eventually meet exactly the same fate.
We need massive political reform.

Our political system is constructed as to drive the electorate to two parties, vying for the greater political mass. I don't think we're constructed in such a way as to allow minority parties to have more of a role than that of spoilers.

When I naturalized, I had to study US governance, and was taught that the constitution applies to every person within US borders, not just citizens.
