Where is the dividing line where itโ€™s just easier to leave the Christmas tree up till next Christmas? Asking for a friend of course
@jerry I just put mine away like 10 minutes ago. I should have known you'd have a better idea.
@jerry

Pretty sure if you haven't put them up by January 6th or The Epiphany it's okay

It's been awhile so that may be the 7th. I'm pretty sure it's the 6th
@jerry My tree is staying up until at least February, the world is too depressing without it
@jerry get the ones that change color. Like presidents Day Valentine's Day at Patrick's Day etc
@jerry Well, Christmas in July will be here no time, and by then we're approaching December again.... ๐Ÿค”

@jerry

depends on how erratic your adhd medication schedule is.

@jerry I'll keep tabs on this thread, you know for research purposes

@jerry

My wife's family all just put a bag or plastic sheeting over them for dust, and tuck them away in the basement or a disused bedroom...

Decorating a tree once rather than once a year has its attractions.

@jerry We left ours up during lockdown.
@jerry Valentine tree, Easter tree, Memorial tree... was fun.
@jerry you're already past it
@jerry You (well, your friend) will be glad to know that Jan 18th is the dividing line.
@jerry
Are we taking real or artificial? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
@jerry I'd say after the arctic freeze
@gary_alderson a festivus pole would be much more convenient.

@jerry Ours is fake, 1-2 feet tall, and is a great night light.

I think it's been five years.

@jerry it is now a valentineโ€™s tree ๐Ÿ’–, then a pattyโ€™s day tree ๐Ÿ€, an Easter tree ๐Ÿฃ, etc

@jerry
March 24th. From Shel Silverstein:

No one's hangin' stockin's up,
No one's bakin' pie,
No one's lookin' up to see
A new star in the sky.
No one's talkin' brotherhood,
No one's givin' gifts,
And no one loves a Christmas tree
On March the twenty-fifth.

@jerry mine lasted until the fifth then it went down
Saint Knut's Day - Wikipedia

@jerry

Decorations should be down by 12th night.

Taking them down after that date is according to folklore bad luck. The should remain up until next Christmas.

If your friend is superstitious or perhaps lives in the US then inviting additional ill fortune might not be a good idea ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@jerry nothing matters anymore, leave it up forever!
@jerry right up until โ€œI doโ€?
So many of the things I ask this question about are measured against the pain and effort of having to listen to someone else express their opinion about it, haha.

@jerry

I like to think of it as a "non denominational, ALL-Seasons" tree

for which I just (very mildly) change the decorations every few months

From Jan - May, it is a "Pink, Bunny, 'cold outside' Candy Holiday" themed tree

May - July4th: Free-Dumb & Explosions!

July 5th - Aug: Summer-ween

Sept - Oct: Spooky Season

Nov 01- 10: Tree goes dark in mourning for end of Spooky Season

The rest of the year... Xmas, commercialism, Fandom Celebration season!
