The 2024.9.1 update is out now. It's a big one!

- New Nitpicky Detail to disable Lock Screen time-scrubbing, in case you accidentally do it a lot

- Podcast Settings screens now have quick switches for playlist inclusion

- Made Episode Limits less aggressive, and added section to settings screen for quickly browsing all of them

- Deleting or marking-as-played now loads the next episode if continuous play is enabled

- Playlists now loop around to the top if continuous play is enabled

Plus a bunch of bug fixes, including:

- Fixed deleted episodes not appearing dim in a podcast's "All" tab

- Podcast screens now start on "All" mode if there are no "Current" episodes

- Fixed links not reopening after swiping to dismiss and tapping again

- Fixed tappable links in chapter list

- Fixed auto-linked timestamps seeking the current episode while viewing a different episode's info

Finally, the app may now prompt you for ratings. (I held out for 8 years… it's time)

I love this attachment and it's my number 1 podcast player. So it's very frustrating that it disappeared like that.

@overcastfm I still can’t get share links to open in the app. They open on the web fine, but the app just shows me the main app screen, does not go to the episode or to the timestamp. 😔

@overcastfm took a couple minutes as the App Store app kept closing the review dialogue, and even crashed on me 😅 So much for the functional highground 😏

@overcastfm can you explain how/when Overcast deletes episodes? I have it set to delete when completed but under Manage Storage I see podcasts with no unplayed episodes listed and using significant space.

@overcastfm Any chance of fixing the watch app. Can’t manually download episodes anymore - pressing the download icon does nothing. Know you’ve send it has a fraction of the users of the main app but to those of us that use it all the time it’s incredibly frustrating.

@overcastfm I really hate refactored Overcast since it broke the order of episodes in the All Episodes playlist and support ignoring email about this bug.

@overcastfm done! Another feature I love (don’t know if it’s new) is resetting the sleep timer by squeezing my AirPods. Really great if I set it to 10 mins and listen with one AirPod in in bed: if I’m still awake and notice it pausing, I can continue for a bit super easily, and that repeats until I actually fall asleep.

@overcastfm My main use case is listening via the watch app when out running (leaving my phone at home).

Not able to download and listen to paid-for Substack podcasts on watch app. This used to be ok but stopped working several months ago.

Watch app shows the paid-for Substack podcast episodes, each with the error message “DOWNLOAD FAILED: NOT AUTHORIZED”.

@overcastfm I wouldn't rate it right now in the app store as that wouldn't be fair. Currently I'd rate it 1 star, whereas the older version would get 5. Unfortunately the latest versions aren't much fun for VoiceOver users, but I know others have already told you this. Just renewed my subscription in hopes for a brighter future.

@overcastfm I changed it to ⭐️ and cancelled my subscription. I had ten happy years with overcast. But since the rewrite it got barely usable and it still is a big mess. Playlist still don’t work correctly, the episode limit first was not enforced and now is working way different… the UI was not a problem for me.

@overcastfm amazing amount of work, any chance of restoring the behaviour of ‘clicking an AirPod after a podcast finishes starts the next one in the queue’ please? I didn’t realise how much I used that until it was gone
