@GottaLaff This sounds great but I’m sure there will be someone who comes along to explain why this was a stupid/bad idea.
Symbolic or not, I feel it’s needed
They will but they'll be Republicans and Russians likely and not worth listening to.
@tobie1 @GottaLaff @jenzi @Fenix
"Will the articles get a hearing on the floor? "
No. That's not how it works when the minority party files articles of impeachment. Instead the articles sit on a shelf, gathering dust until the term of congress expires. Do you remember the 2017 articles of impeachment of mangolini? No? That's because they went nowhere. Not even a blip in the media, except a local district note of the critter who filed them.
Filing articles of impeachment when you're in the minority party accomplishes nothing. It's a political stunt catering to the hyperaware party faithful. It's also a stunt if you're in the majority, unless the Speaker is on board.

I wonder if this might add to the pressure Merrick Garland is under, now that two Senators have just requested these two justices be investigated by a special prosecutor?
But we can dream of taking back the house and kicking the two of them out on their 🍑’s
🥾 🚪 👋
@WmShakesp3are @GottaLaff @Fenix
Good reason to start now, bring it to the floor when you get power. Just another reason to vote in more Democrats, hopefully this will motivate people. Then we can hope that a public hearing would at least garner support to pack the court.
@Fenix @GottaLaff It’s symbolic, but I never understood why people think symbols are unimportant. Symbols are often the most powerful way to convey and popularize an idea.
Anyone who doesn’t believe that should take a look at the Catholic Church.
@TCatInReality @GottaLaff
It's already worked since it's drawn more attention to the corrupt justices, but I also don't want attention to be deflected from Whitehouse's subcommittee sending a request to the Attorney General to assign a special counsel to investigate Clarence Thomas either.
I'd like to get enough public pressure on the AG to do just that.
@GreenFire @TCatInReality @GottaLaff
it is definitely time to get all eyes on the SCOTUS now. Workplace changes considering personal time etc. are on a LIGHTINING FAST PACE considering the possilbity of a no-overtime-pay ruling and since all regulation right now is just "decoration" as I saw it called, we need to closely watch it.
Everyone NEEDS to be watching SCOTUS cases now.
We are gonna have to have our attention in multiple places at once in the near future.
@artisanrox @GreenFire @GottaLaff
💯
#Dems need to be running on a "Save the #SCOTUS " platform.
And that requires a #BlueTrifecta2024. They need to be open and loud about seeking that.
No, they can't "force some votes". That's not how this works at all. I'd leave you to your fantasies, but I know you'll be back in a few months moaning about do-nothing democrats and blaming them for the cold hard reality of being the House minority party this term of congress. So I'll tell you now: nothing will happen as a result of these articles of impeachment. Articles of impeachment don't even get a vote without the Speaker's blessing, as Pelosi amply demonstrated.
C'mon folks, it's recent history.
@Smootasaurus @GottaLaff wtf nyt...
The bias has been obvious but that's beyond the pale.
Excellent move!
@GottaLaff a little bit of sanity! Gotta do the things a sane person would do in the face of rampant corruption.
If you think "oh they'll just get away with it anyway" you're ultimately just enabling them.
Make the corrupt answer for their behaviour. Make them and their cronies publicly explain themselves and wear it. Get it into public record, 'cuz there's always going to be a next time, and as the snowball grows it gets very heavy.
