Maybe i shouldn't generalize without knowing this as a fact but i think most states are red if you remove their biggest cities
How do you get away from societal collapse? It will affect everyone everywhere.
@hacks4pancakes It's also worth remembering that 1) there are no real safe destinations, just less fucked-up ones, and 2) it takes a heck of a lot of privilege to be able to move somewhere else.
Fight it where you are.

Also as a US/Canadian expat, our coming elections threaten to send Canada down the radical right road
And people here don’t seem to realize it mostly means continuing to sell off our healthcare system and any hope their kids will ever own a home
Both of which will contribute to what the RCMP describes as social inequity leading to wider societal collapse
When the cops warn the government about disasters, housing and inequality, things are getting bad
@hacks4pancakes the most difficult part for a lot of people, i think, is breaking with politely tolerating Uncle Redhat, loudly rebuking them every time they repeat the maga chants.
to resist, we have to be assholes.
As could the current one.
How on earth did an unelected group of judges who are political appointees (for life!) become a thing? It's the least democratic thing I've ever seen.
Looking from the outside (in a country where the judiciary and political branches of government are strictly separated), it looks insane.
Surprised it took this long for something like this to happen.
@hacks4pancakes did I miss the Democrats actually stepping up to to do anything about preventing monarchs or getting rid of our oligarchs?
They were right there on Jan 6th and then a couple weeks later Dems illegally allowed dozens of insurrectionists to be seated in public office. They did nothing to stop purjuring SCOTUS justices being confirmed, and then stood by and allowed abortion rights to die on their watch. They're standing by right now, watching a judicial coup happening, and Biden just today came out to say "I'm not doing a damn thing about it, you'll have to vote me in for a second term in which I will continue to not do anything about it."
This "At least with the Democrats there's hope..." shtick is sounding pretty thin when they are telling us they have no plan to give us any hope that they'll actually do anything
