No matter if google's, mozilla's or apple's but still. We do not have something really free, foss, or not owned, ruled by some big-tech, corpo etc. In this topic we all are trully sitting ducks as heck.

@soma_u @ThePlant You know, some of these you can at least build on your own hand. Vpn for example, some apps and even email for your purposes. That's not a very big problem. Sources are available, it's only a matter of some time and work.
But lots of other things are not so easy to develop in the matter of the "one man army". As I discuss this topic with my husband, we have enough devs, resources, money too to do that. The question is why not unite together and take this case(s) in our hands?

@soma_u @ThePlant Not only two, because we have some other systems more or less ready for desktops and also mobile platforms. I am writing this from my SailfishOS based phone now and works superb. But you forgot about one most important, sensitive and neuralgic thing which we don't have yet despite the many years of the whole open-source story. A free from bullshit, foss, friendly etc, mobile (and not only) nfc payments system and corresponding to this apps.

If the browser or the engine that browser is based on is under someone's control, they always can do literally anything they want with it.
That's why we need something totally independent. To avoid that.

@MartinBe @ThePlant This is happening right now directly before our eyes. Is there anything more than we can add to the topic? Because after seeing what Mozilla did I don't think there's anything left. #Mozilla has just left the building of trusted companies at its own request. For me it is very simple now. As one of my life rules say: "You cheat or lie to me once, you have nothing more to look for with me ever". Same occurs for companies, foundations and their products, services etc. That's it.

We already did had plenty of them in the past where some stupid decisions and moves of one person/dev literally fuc*ed up thousands if not millions of people. So, what in the devil we want more?! That this shit happens one day like an "digital judgment day"? 🤔 I don't truly know what people are still wanting for?
