What a moment.

The WWII Veteran is introduced to Canadian PM Trudeau, and Trudeau introduces President Zelensky.

The Veteran immediately takes off his hat and exclaims “You're the Saviour of the People!!”.

Zelensky says, “no no, you saved Europe”.

“My hero", the veteran says, “I'll pray for you”.

Zelensky seems humbled (as he should).

Two men, saving Europe from tyranny, death, and destruction, at opposite ends of a lifetime.

Veteran calls Zelenskyy a 'saviour of the people' at D-Day event

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy kneeled to share a moment with a veteran at an event marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day, with each man praising the other for their war efforts.

@chris

Two Antifa leaders at their summit.

Zelensky is the most masterful of world leaders at this sort of thing.

@Dr_Bombay Two of the men I would respect most in the world, declaring their respect for each other. What a moment!
@marsroverdriver right? i can't imagine what Z thought and felt at that moment, to have one of the last WWII vets take his hat off and say that to HIM. he was speechless.
@chris Such a tender, deeply touching moment between these two courageous men.

@chris I am trying to envision the probably candidates for the US Presidency kneeling to speak to a D-Day veteran. One, I imagine his knees might creak a little. The other has (I am certain) never bent down to speak to anyone.

If I didn't already know which candidate I will vote for in November (I did), I absolutely do now.

@chris

Two humble heroes meet: each loving their country more than life itself. #DDay #Ukraine

@chris I bet they'd like it to just stay safe for a little bit, you know?
@chris 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

@chris

it was a great moment.

@BillMcGuire @chris

It is testament to the sincere respect Zelensky has for the men and women who risk their lives on the battlefield to fight for freedom; then on the beaches of Normandy, now on Ukrainian soil. To him, they are the real heroes.

@chris What a fucking bullshit, we still believe USA freed Europe for free
@snakebyte85 @chris Who in this story is from the USA? And they only got involved when they got attacked themselves.
@chris I kind of choked up just reading that.
@chris Zelensky’s grandfather was a veteran (who rose from infantryman to the rank of colonel in the Red Army) and his great-grandfather and three of his siblings were murdered by the Nazis.
@brucelawson i thought that was rupert murdoch for a second
Trudeau and Zelensky give Ukrainian Nazi war veteran standing ovation in Canadian parliament

@K_Reuss_Manaus yup. an idiotic mistake that has nothing to do with the moment at hand.

@chris I don't thank so. There are too many "idiot mistakes", that it can't be by accident.
I don't guess, that it's was by intention but by ignorance, based on white Supremacy.

Both, Zelinsky in his relation with Stepan Bandera and his crimes and Trudeau in his relation with Indian Act and the connected crimes.

@K_Reuss_Manaus sure buddy. please do point out another instance where a Speaker has invited a Nazi to sit in the Gallery of Canada's parliament. I'll wait.

Now please take your Russian bullshit and go back to Moscow.

@chris Russian war crimes and genacid don't relativatate Stepan Banderas Nazi crimes and Holocaust, neither the crimes of Residential Schools!
Genocide is a crime wherever it takes place and whoever it commits. Your western "Herrenmensch" indeology is not better than Putin, Trudeau or Zelinsky.

@K_Reuss_Manaus call me when Russia sends the babies back #CulturalGenocide or stops shooting Ukrainian civilians in the street #Warcrimes.

Actually don't. Please do fuck off.

@chris Canada did the same (and worse) in Residential Schools - and still does. Putin is a monster, and Trudeau and all who support the genocide, isn't better!

@K_Reuss_Manaus That's right. Canada did the same. In the past. Russia and Putin is doing it today. Not Zelensky, Putin. Keep up. You're barely getting your own story straight.

Bye

@chris The one who defends Putins monstrous genocide, is you: by defending genocide itself
@chris
I cried then; I’m crying again reading about it. Two heros recognizing each other’s heroism.
