Five months after I purchased my AirPods, I’m still seeing this popover daily on multiple devices. Whyyyyyy 😕
Based on my replies, I am not the only one experiencing this problem.
@siracusa I also saw this every day, but it has now stopped - no idea why, no reason, no solutions, maybe just hope for the afflicted?
@siracusa also looks like it’s AirPods 3 specifically. I’ve got AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro 2 and I didn’t notice it was just the 3s doing it. I also have the 3s paired to non Apple devices (Steam Deck and Switch) which I thought might be the cause but maybe not.
@sdjmchattie @siracusa Nope I’ve got it on AirPods 2 and only in the last few months of 18 month old AirPods.
@DavidTanner @siracusa interesting. I wonder why there are so many people mentioning 3rd gen in their replies. Do you pair them to non-Apple products over regular BlueTooth?
@sdjmchattie @siracusa Paired to an SE 2nd gen and an IPad Pro 3rd gen (occasionally).
@siracusa plz use your podcaster power to make it go away 😉
@netzdings @siracusa Is that like Wonder Twins power? Activate!
@siracusa yeah it’s happening to me too. Has been for months and my AirPods are old, lol.
@siracusa On the other hand, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that, and I would have loved to know this, lol
@siracusa Every single time on my OG Beats Studio Buds.
@siracusa haven’t seen it. Have you tried to re-configure the setting (and then set back to preference)?
@siracusa Not at all. See it every night when I’m about to use my iPad. Every. Single. Night.
@siracusa not only do I get this all the time, I also get a notification that this device (Air Pods Max) have been found traveling with me whenever I take them anywhere.
@siracusa I have NEVER seen this popover. Perhaps you’re getting them for everyone? Every time someone new buys AirPods, Apple say “oh, we need to send John a popover”

@scottearle @siracusa

Same here - I have never seen this!

@siracusa same. only happens on my airpods 3, not on airpods 2 or max (long story)

note I have other (worse) issues with the airpods 3 too:

@[email protected] I haven't seen that particular behavior in Find My, but my AirPods 3 gets unpaired from my account all the time, and every couple of weeks rather than once a month. After I re-connect them to my device (and iCloud account), the name I gave the AirPods is still there, but sometimes there's a " - Find My" appended to the name. Additionally, all the settings on the AirPods get reset (e.g., the double-press behavior and the auto/left/right mic settings).

@trieut @siracusa exactly the same situation - I’ve been ignoring it/closing the pop-up but would love to see a solution
@siracusa oh also: this setting constantly gets set back to "Automatically connect" across ALL my airpods and devices:
@siracusa Apple is telling you they go in your ears, not your nose?
@siracusa probably same reason I’m seeing “not your AirPods nearby” every time someone at home is nearby opening their AirPods.
@siracusa I get this constantly as well and it drives me crazy. Also using AirPods 3, it hadn't even occurred to me that it might be something specific to that model.
@jaromvogel @siracusa Yup, I own all other AirPods and these are the only ones.
@siracusa it took three full iOS versions before favoriting my soccer team would stick for more than a day on Apple News (and then Apple TV). I have a feeling their user prefs backend is riddled with sync bugs and no way to report them.
@siracusa sounds like you need to repair permissions
@siracusa primarily seeing this on my iPad + AirPod 3rd Gens, it’s not daily but it feels like multiple times weekly
@siracusa Your AirPods have been possessed. I’ve owned countless pairs of AirPods and I have never once seen this prompt on any OS version.
@siracusa Same. I’m actually not going to buy another pair of AirPods again. Wired earbuds for me next time. Keep it simple.
@siracusa I see it regularly, but not every day, with my non-pro AirPods. I have not been able to find a pattern. Sometimes the case with AirPods is in my pocket, sometimes it’s untouched on a shelf in another room.
@siracusa you must have gotten mine, because I have never seen that before.
@siracusa It's so irritating. Sometimes I dismiss it and it immediately pops back up.
@siracusa 2024 is a leap year, all bets are off for things working correctly (I wish this was a joke).
@siracusa im not getting that one... i keep getting the popup you get when you pair them for the first time, as if they're a new device doing first time setup.
@siracusa yep, once a day on my phone

@siracusa I can barely use ANY gestures with them. My gestures are:

1. Put them in ears to hear
2. Take them out to stop.

Works great for me!

Anything else about them, answering calls, etc, I control from the phone.

@siracusa Is this "Trust this computer?" for airpods users? 🙂
That's my iOS bugbear. By continually asking me if I trust this computer, you make me think that you don't trust this computer 🙂
@siracusa Forget this device and re-pair seems to be the solution 👍

Mute and unmute calls prompt won’t stop p… - Apple Community

@dbolli I’ve tried it, unfortunately.
@siracusa have you tried muting it off and on again?
@siracusa same here. I get that prompt multiple times a week with my AirPods 3, sometimes even when they’re in the case not being used!
@siracusa This. All the time. And I keep thinking 17.x will surely fix it… but no.
@siracusa you must be getting some of mine. I got that pop up for half a second when I paired my AirPods Pro 2, and I’ve never seen it again.
@siracusa Same here, for some reason it seems less frequent over time, but it feels like a bug that this showed up more than once
@siracusa Multiple times per day. Sigh.
@siracusa I’m not afflicted by this problem, but my iPhone (and no other device) really wants me to learn what’s new in Home for iOS 17, every single time the app cold-starts. I wonder if the two issues are somehow related.
@siracusa I’m seeing it on mine that I’ve had for 2 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@siracusa Same, seeing that multiple times a week with my AirPod 3s paired to my iPhone 14 Pro
@siracusa I have many AirPods, never seen this past the first few days. Have you tried resetting the AirPods?
@siracusa See this about once a week with my Powerbeats as well. Guess it’s the iOS variant of macOS‘s „do you want to trust this device?“ 😢
@siracusa every-single-day in both iPhone and iPad
@siracusa Seen it only once but probably need to see it more often as I still try to end calls with a single press.
@siracusa yes, every day with G3 AirPods
@siracusa couple of times a day with the button funcionality changed since iOS 17 came out.
@siracusa This is one of these bugs for which I feel that nobody at Apple, especially the execs, are using their own products.
@siracusa I get it at least once every couple of days. It’s so annoying.
