@gruber I haven’t tried Ice Cubes or Mona, but of the ones I’ve used I like Toot! the best.
@gruber I chose ivory because I pay to use it, but the best option for frugal use is ice cubes IMO.
@machei frugal use 😆 thanks!
@dimillian well, your pricing IS much more to my liking… 🤑 (nice job on that app by the way, while I have your attention). 👍
@machei @chris @gruber Mona:pay once, no subscription fees
@gruber Feditext is my bestie
@gruber Ice Cubes followed closely by Mona

@gruber I’m biased but my own Mastodon client Radiant, @radiant

Always more to do but it’s gotten a ton of improvements since release, and will keep getting better. Next up is improvements for the pro phones to increase performance for those super fast refresh rates 😊

Always happy to hear any thoughts and suggestions too!

Radiant - iOS Mastodon client

Bright new Mastodon client for iOS, with powerful features in a native iOS design! Smart filters, incredible post composer and near endless customisation.

Radiant - iOS Mastodon client
@jknlsn @gruber @radiant i'd just like the reply button to work (bug report filed a week ago) otherwise it's a great client
@gruber @radiant @dammitjanet thanks! I’ve been moving country the last week so haven’t been able to look into it sorry, but will be on it soon
@jknlsn @gruber @radiant I prefer the avatar flushed to the left, on its own small column. I installed the app to try it, and the fact I couldn’t find a setting to customise that made me delete it after a few minutes.
@david sorry to hear that you’ve deleted the app, but that’s definitely an option I can add. If you decide to revisit the app in future there’s also https://feedback.radiant.social where you can give suggestions

@gruber Ivory scratches my Tweetbot itch but special shout out to @IceCubesApp too - both excellent
@gruber
I don't have an iPhone so as an alternative Ice Cubes works well for me on the iPad. If I had an iPhone for full time use I'd use Ivory I think.
@gruber using Mastoot right now.
@Katti @gruber Same. I like @IceCubesApp but @Mastoot is a bit faster (but surely not as feature-packed). When I need to deep dive, I'm in IceCubes. When I'm browsing, I Mastoot.
@gruber you could do a second post with more clients.
Phanpy

Minimalistic opinionated Mastodon web client

I’m just glad to have a choice
@gruber @cynblogger I settled on Toot! after trying two others, though I’m using an iPad instead of a phone.
@gruber Mastoot or Trunks
@gruber I like all four and rotate between them. I have paid for Ivory and Mona and tipped for Ice Cubes. But my go to app is Ivory.
@gruber Ivory is what I voted for, but been using Radiant for posting threads. I miss the ability of Tweetbot to create a thread and save it so I can post it to it over time (to be fair, Radiant doesn’t have that, but at least I don’t have to keep refreshing my feed to reply to the last post).
@gruber if you were using, for example, Firefish instead of Mastodon (which also works in Ice Cubes now btw), then you could have a lot more options in a poll, and the entries could be longer

Testing polls in Firefish but when posted from Ice Cubes 📊

@gruber Mona is the best, if you’re willing to pay!
@gruber I like Ivory and Ice Cubes, but Mona stands out as the most functional and customizable.
@gruber Elk @elk it is for me.
Can't vote.
@gruber I’m still rocking MetaText, even though it is t being actively developed.

@gruber Does anyone else feel like people are using Ivory only because of respect for Tweetbot? I was using Tweetbot a lot because there were no good looking alternatives but we’re not on Twitter anymore. @IceCubesApp seems better for me in terms of features and UI customization. Changing avatar position so that posts can take up full screen width is something other clients should learn from @dimillian.
@gruber I voted Ivory, my daily driver, but I like the fact that Mona lets me save search topics so I can get back to my favorite hashtags quickly.
@gruber Toot! It’s very charming.
@gruber please ask again for Android. Haven't found my best solution
@gruber Interesting results!
What do people prefer in Ivory that IceCubes doesn’t have?
@gruber The problem with this poll is people may infer that options other than Ivory (the current leader) are bad and that’s just not the case. They’re all damn good apps.
@gruber The official app is perfectly cromulent for me, but I reserve the right to switch if I ever find it lacking.
@gruber @elduvelle I like Toot! It is fully featured and has cute animations.
@gruber Mona for the functionality, customisation and subscription model. Pretty polished too, a lot of work has gone into it @MonaApp
@gruber This makes me think that we need two things in the native polling toolkit:
- larger lists
- ranked voting
@gruber right now? Icecubes is great but I still really want Mona. My computer client, Tweesecake doesn't support polls yet. Sorry.
@gruber @ted Been using Toot! happily for more than six months, never tried any of those in your list!
@gruber even after heavily testing Ivory i still love @tootapp the most
@gruber I love how instantaneous Elk is, never have to wait for toots to load when I launch the PWA pinned to my homescreen
@gruber no radiant there, not voting.
I'm using it as a accessibility tester, and I really love it.
most stuff there is done how it should be, just polls aren't working, but we are working on that.
@gruber Toot! is solid especially for following instances you’re not part of or for utilizing accounts on multiple instances (I prefer Mona now though because of how highly customizable it is
@gruber still using Metatext, tho’ I know I need to move to a supported app soon!!
@gruber of the 4 mentioned: Ice Cubes. Runner up is Feditext (currently in Beta), especially because it also support akkoma and firefish accounts.
