A student in an intro ling class has asked me why the "me" in "not me procrastinating again" is not "I", as the subject of "procrastinating". This is beyond the level we cover, and my syntax-fu is rusty - can any other linguist out there suggest a reason?
"python is an incredible programming language" is a factual statement
i can't believe (it is not credible that) anyone chooses to use a language like that. or to make it in the first place. have you seen the scoping
English speakers of the fedi. In a software with the interface in English, Reading a menu with verbs such as Save, Open, Close, Edit, Format etc., do you read them as imperative (an order: "do this") or as an infinitive (the "base form" of the verb, like "to do this")?
Are you a native speaker or have English as a second language?

The #Chomsky / #Epstein Puzzle | CounterPunch.org
A complex picture, by Chris Knight. Let's read.
https://www.counterpunch.org/2026/02/06/the-chomsky-epstein-puzzle/

Noam Chomsky’s life and work cannot be understood without taking into account his militarily-funded linguistics research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). There were, I believe, always two ‘Noam Chomskys’ – one working for the US military and the other working tirelessly against that same military. This contradiction cannot explain every aspect of Chomsky’s puzzling friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. But it is the underlying contradiction that helps us understand why someone as radical as Chomsky ended up being involved with someone as reactionary as Epstein.
Well, everyone, you can now submit a comment to let the FCC know what you think about SpaceX asking for 1 million satellites for "AI datacenters" whatever the fuck that means.
https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-26-113A1.pdf
Comments due March 6.
I am having a very hard time believing this is really happening. Fuck you, SpaceX, and fuck you, FCC. This is not regulation, this is a fucking joke, that will destroy our ability to use satellites for centuries.
