Top of the pops on my website this week is my accidental growing of the massively poisonous and hallucinogen Datura stramonium or devil’s snare! A fascinating plant in #mythology and #folklore the world over but not one to have with a family around.

Hallucinogenic devil's snare or Datura stramonium - MandyCanUDigIt

Pride comes before a fall and my unidentified exotic plant is actually the very toxic and hallucinogenic devil's snare or Datura stramonium.

In my experience from years of raising Datura, the warning literature is always a tad hyped up in similar vein as Reefer Madness. It's very toxic, but it takes more than just a few seeds. It's a deliberate exaggeration to scare people, especially children, from trying to have a fun time with it. Fools think it's on par with magic mushrooms, then land themselves in the hospital or a casket. Same reason applies to "Touch Aconite and you'll die."
You won't, but a fool might eat it.
@dulcedemon That's good to know - I do always treat 'unknown exotics' with caution in these seed packets. Very good value from Chiltern Seeds though if you like a bit of mystery.
