@paul this smells to me of the usual american policy of "bigger must just be better" in the same way it's getting harder and harder to find a sedan instead of a crossover or full SUV/truck.
Stefan です@dustinrue @paul Same here. Currently on the 12 mini, but the battery life is horrible. I'll probably replace the battery now, and in a year or two try to find a cheap-ish 13 mini (or hope they re-released the mini as the new SE by then).
If this small form factor is dead (i.e. does not become the new SE), I'm not sure what to do...
demize@paul canada abolished phone contracts, so now I have to upgrade my phone every two years, so I'll probably be getting a 15 whether I like it or not
Hudson@demize what are you talking about? There are still 2y contracts with subsidized phones or cheaper month-to-month bring your own device options (my preferred approach).
@hpridham the two-year agreements are financing agreements, not contracts; you can get out of them at any point simply by paying money that you owe anyway
but they're structured just about as well as they can to lock you in, hence "now I have to upgrade my phone every two years" :p

I’ve owned plenty of mobile phones over the years. My current daily driver is iPhone 13 Mini, sporting a bright, funky, and cheap OIIAEE Silicone Case. Look at it. Jade@paul If the iPhone mini represented just 3 percent of sales, that was be 6 to 8 million units a year. That might be enough for a periodic revival, mabye every three years or so. Remember, the HomePod was cancelled until it wasn't.
infinite love ⴳ@paul im gonna hold onto this se 1st gen until it is no longer useful. most likely apps will stop supporting ios 15 at some point... which is a shame, because i have no other issues with the device itself. i even replaced the battery in it somewhat recently, so battery health is at 100%.
