The Laptop Everyone Knows as Hunter Biden's Appears to Have Been Deleted Starting February 15, 2019 - emptywheel

In January 2019, the Gmail account Hunter Biden used to contact sex workers took over his iCloud account and ordered all his content for download. The next month, the data on the Hunter Biden laptop was deleted.

@emptywheel it’s news like this that makes me miss bidoof.swf. (Spanish Flea over a Bidoof with its head slowly spinning.)

@emptywheel

What a mess. This happens when you may get tied up with russian hookers.

@SpaceLifeForm @emptywheel

So, just to be precise on this point...

I should have the Russian hookers tied up separately?

@SpaceLifeForm @emptywheel pro tip: do not claim as tax deduction. IRS will not like.
@emptywheel Russian escort services… lemme think … totally not FSA right?
Isn't "hb rediPhone" just "Hunter Biden red iPhone?" @emptywheel
@whatstheruckus I've updated. There was a branded Red Phone that is probably what it was.

@whatstheruckus @emptywheel
Good catch: @emptywheel listed it in text as "HP rediPhone," but the excerpted doc has it as "HB rediPhone."

From emptywheel's post: a typo?

@EarthOne @whatstheruckus THanks. It was a typo. I've rewritten that section to focus on the fact that there should be more active devices -- which is how they could get lost like it happened.
I enjoyed reading it. It's interesting to see you break down the log. @emptywheel @EarthOne

@emptywheel @whatstheruckus I'm sure you've seen this or something like it before, but I happen to be a bit of a screenshot hoarder (so many things disappear from the Internet I later regret not saving).

Murdoch's psyops media "The Post" and FoxFakeNews push this obvious hit job on Hunter. Giuliani was, of course, front-man. Enter the very shady Chinese (now-indicted) Guo pretending-not-to-be-an-agent taking credit. Dueling propagandists.

2023: GOP House pushes it from Congress. (cont.)

@emptywheel @whatstheruckus So to put a pin in it (and please tell me if my additions here are too tangential; I'll remove them): there are accusations the now-indicted Guo is a CCP spy running a controlled opposition operation. Here are details of an operation closely resembling the Hunter op. Rudy, Bannon, Flynn, Trump, et al., in on it, of course. (cont.)

@emptywheel @whatstheruckus Last one: the detail of how Guo ran his "controlled opposition op" against others is so close in detail as what happened with Hunter, it raises a red flag.

Apologies if I'm overstepping to put all this here. Say the word and I'll gladly remove. I would like to know your take or any info you have re: Guo. It BURNS MY BUTT that these traitors run ops to take down America and democracy while faking patriotism! 🙏

@EarthOne @emptywheel I only recently started paying attention to Gou - ever since Santos was indicated. :/

@whatstheruckus @emptywheel Guo hasn't been followed up on by MSM. I saved this stuff a while back and happened upon it again looking for something else.

Bannon/Guo really surfaced for me when Bannon was arrested on Guo's yacht -- first time Steve ever looked like he'd had a bath and clean clothes in years.

IMO MSM gives China short shrift in espionage/active measures issues. But the traveling show Flynn and the Gang put on is alarming to me. Eric Prince runs training ops in China, as well.

I'm a Reddit refugee. I hung out in r/law trying to stay up on the fuckery. @EarthOne @emptywheel

@whatstheruckus @emptywheel I came here late last year, after quitting Twitter when I saw Musk was going to buy it and I knew what that meant. I was on Twitter 12 years for casual fun stuff; Trump/RU/now-Musk blew that up. Keeping up with their "fire-hose" of daily insanity drowned Twitter.

Who knew the way to get away with crime is to incorporate half the country into your mob?

Trump knew.

Anyhow, I'm hanging here for news now. Welcome.

@emptywheel

I think i saw part the video posted on twit the GOP really wanted to see from the laptop. They all be jealous of his big pennis. 😂

@emptywheel Yeah, every time another new detail comes out in this story, it just adds a whole new level of "well, that doesn't sound right"
@emptywheel Am I missing something? If the laptop deletion was successful in Feb 2019 as this log of messages seems to claim, there should not have been any files on the laptop to be recovered in April 2019. Maybe blocks of data, if it wasn’t encrypted. But not files.

@jpanzer Then they load it back up! With some altered docs.

So. the laptop MacIsaac gets is in fact, Hunter's laptop, but also has been doctored.

@jpanzer That's one reason I'm so obsessed with teh booted imaging--bc that may have been designed to obscure how stuff got reloaded.
@emptywheel 🤔 Taking a step back, control of the laptop in this scenario is completely compromised, so there is no chain of custody on this data even before it gets to the computer store.
@jpanzer Correct. And yet the IRS used it investigatively.
@emptywheel Maybe somebody should blow the whistle on that part…
@jpanzer @emptywheel Also, isn't it illegal for anyone to hack into Hunter's "cloud" and steal the data there? I mean, the whole "computer tech's" story of Hunter abandoning it after a specified date means it's his is fishy enough, but that would not mean he can hack Hunter's "cloud" storage legally, does it?

@emptywheel Now, I'm a complete moron when it comes to tech data and such, but I watched the incredibly detailed evidence presented at a murder trial this year (Alex Murdaugh); iPhone records were presented by S.C. Law Enforcement Div. data retrieval experts mapping every step, mile, location, and phone orientation movement, and more, second by second. It convicted that killer with no problem.

How is it that FBI don't have ALL of this from Hunter's stolen phone and laptops?

@emptywheel I wonder what data Apple used to have in their logs about the IP addresses the “droid hunter” account used to log in from, and what location metadata there was. It’d be interesting.

Too bad apparently nobody subpoena’d that info; it’s lost now.

@emptywheel it would be very interesting to find out what payment methods were used for any financial transactions in there. Biden's credit or debit cards? ITunes gift cards? Any way of identifying where any such gift cards might have been purchased and activated or how they were paid for? IIRC last time I replaced my phone I had to re-add payment options to Apple Wallet.

@emptywheel
I'm suddenly having quite a lot of fun with the Hunter Biden laptop story these days.

The evidence now points to a cabal of Russian sex workers using (conjecture) an unconscious HB fingerprints to turn over the laptop to hackers who remote backed it up, edited the contents and specifically alerted the repair guy.
The laptop does seem like it was HBs but it was remote backed up, remote wiped and remote replaced with the earlier remote backup with a bunch of edited documents.

@emptywheel
There's a really great hack story here, and it points right back to Russian election interference

@dnavinci Interesting question. I don't know if he used bio to open his phones, but that would be an easy thing to do.

But to be clear: They didn't make the copy of Hunter's account.Apple did. Then wiped the laptop so they could rebuild it.

@emptywheel
Ah, definitely conjecture on my part.

When you say, "they didn't make a copy", you're just clearly stating the lack of evidence as to WHO initiated the backup, right? Apple doesn't generally make backups on their own initiative.

@emptywheel This is kind of a "choose your own adventure" story.

So there's a Russian escort agency involved, and a compromised gooner account in addition to everything else fucked up about it.

I don't suppose in 2018 there might've been a few Russian GRU honeypots running around trying to manipulate political VIPs, hmmm?

Also, JFC Hunter. WTF, dude.

@emptywheel To any cyber professional familiar with basic forensics, John Paul Mac Isaac's story has been deeply problematic. He destroyed any chain of custody foundation within minutes of his exploration, rendering the laprop useless as evidence.

Anyone who entrusts this narrative should not be trusted with real responsibilities.

@emptywheel Wow!!!! That's very important. What a world....
