Has anyone watched Silo on AppleTV? Any good?
@jerry Quite well produced, and follows the story from the book pretty well so far. Intriguing and worth watching, I think

@aredridel @jerry wait the Hugh Howey series? they made it into a series!?!

🤩

@aredridel @jerry that was a great read!

Too bad I think the author turned out to have some issues IIRC. I don't remember details though. His writing was great!

@dannotdaniel @jerry Yeah, small-scale douchecanoery.
@aredridel @jerry @dannotdaniel ughh… I didn’t know that 😕
@dalfen yeah. No the big like worth avoiding but meh!
@dalfen @aredridel @dannotdaniel I know that not all authors are, but I will say that it seems like the Venn diagram of “douchcanoist” has a considerable larger overlap with “author of sci-fi novel” than the general population. I suspect this is a corollary of the saying “never meet your heros”
@jerry Entertaining. Requires some willing suspension of disbelief, but you won't regret the time spent.
@jerry Not yet. I've heard good things about it. Kind-a Lost-ish. Got renewed for a second season as well...
@jerry I really liked it. Season 2 already announced, if you were worried about that.
@jerry Even my wife liked it, and she doesn't usually go for the sci-fi stuff like I do.
@jerry Yes! It took me a couple episodes to really get in to it. Worth the patience/effort.
@jerry another thumbs up for it here. Best sci fi in a long while
@jerry
I thought it was pretty okay (still haven't seen the final episode) but missing a few of the elements I enjoyed from the book. If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 7/10 so far. If they stick the landing I'd bump it up to an 8
@jerry very good. It’s based on the Wool series of books by Hugh Howey, which is great too.
@jerry excellent show. Good acting, good story.
@jerry i’ve heard good things from folks who have seen it! on my list to get to for sure
@jerry fantastic! Highly recommend it
@jerry The books were really good. I was waiting for it to be fully out because my wife prefers to binge shows (*grumble*), so I'm looking forward to watching this.
@jerry its pretty clever, you'll like it
@jerry Very good! Captivating in almost every episode. 👍
@jerry Still watching it, but I find it's very easy to be immersed in the world they created, so it definitely works. Read the books years ago, and it seems pretty true to the story. Great cast, too.
@briankrebs @jerry Wait they made a show out of Wool? Man, Apple is really trying to get me to break my "no new subscription services" rule.
@AGTMADCAT @briankrebs @jerry the good thing about appletv is that they have almost no content so you can easily pay a month, binge Ted Lasso and silo and then not think about appletv for a year until next season
@Paxxi @AGTMADCAT @briankrebs @jerry Severance is worth the binge as well
@Paxxi @briankrebs @jerry Maybe I'll find a vacation time at the end of this year to do that, thanks!
@Paxxi @AGTMADCAT I have yet to watch a show on appletv+ that I haven’t enjoyed. Ted Lasso is top but Silo, Foundation, For All Mankind were all pretty good watches. Loot was prob the worst for me but still good. Need to watch Severence and Big Door Prize next.
@jerry I liked it overall, but I felt they made some deeply unnecessary changes from the books, shoehorning in new drama instead of using the drama that was already there, and overdoing some action scenes. However, it ended in a pretty good place by end of season.
@jerry another vote for yes. I read and enjoyed the books some years ago and now with my spouse, we've watched and enjoyed the series on Apple. Recommended!
@jerry Read the books a while back and enjoyed them. I enjoyed the series a lot. Tim Robbins is great in it as is the rest of the cast. I can't wait until season 2.
@jerry I'm enjoying it. Some of the exposition is a little clunky but it's keeping me watching. Let's just say it's *very* "genre."
@jerry just binged it. It's a bit expected and sets up the standard class conflict troupes, but I think it's worth it.
@jerry if you haven't read the books, yes it's great. If you have, it's still fine but a bit uneven
@jerry it’s amazing, some of the best sci fi out there
@jerry really liked it. Added the books to my reading lists. Excited to see where they differ.
@jerry it has just ended and we had a blast! It slows down somewhere in the middle but picks right up so I recommend finish it.
@jerry simple sci-fi executed very well.
@jerry I haven’t started this yet but the books are amazing so far! I do think just from the trailers that they’ve strayed a bit from the source material. I can’t wait to finish the books though.
@jerry I quite enjoyed it. Almost up there with Severance
@jerry phenomenal! I just started reading the books so can’t comment on comparison but the show had me hooked.
@jerry I really enjoyed it; it’s a slow burn character and situation study, a few surprises, and I managed to wait to go spoil the rest of the books’ plot until after I watched the full first season! The season is supposedly about half of one of the three books, and I believe it. I’m in for season two when it’s out.
@jerry Silo is very good tv. Recommend strongly!
@jerry loved it so much I bought the book and reading that now.
@jerry Yes, and in my opinion, well worth it.
@jerry Yes. I haven't read the books, but I enjoyed the stoey on TV and where it's going. It is making me want to grab the books and give them a read after the first season finished
@jerry watched S01 and read series. Books are better in this case, imo
@jerry I haven’t seen it myself but I have been recommended it by several people I trust. It is currently sitting on my to watch list.
@jerry I haven’t subscribed to Apple TV since it was initially released. Are there any good shows or films on there? It’s only $7/m I believe so isn’t bad at all
@jerry I loved it! Really good show, can’t wait for future seasons.
@jerry binged all of season 1 with friends last Sunday. It was excellent.
@jerry I loved the books and am loving the series just as much. It's a great production.
@jerry best tv show I’ve watched in a long time by far. 10/10
@jerry I really enjoyed it. Now I’ve started reading the books it is based on.
