I am admittedly no military expert but marching troops into Russia, taking over cities, then marching back out the next day to camps just outside the borders that can easily be wiped off the map sure strikes me as one of the dumbest things I have ever seen
The more I think about it the more I'm wondering if Prigozhin was just really, really shitfaced last night
@AbandonedAmerica
We've all been there. It's usually planning to go into work on Monday and telling the boss what I really think about the corporate strategy rather than marching on the capital, but still...
@TonyJWells @AbandonedAmerica mine are usually 2am texts to exes, so feeling good about it now
@AbandonedAmerica THIS. OCCAM'S RAZOR SAYS THIS.
@msbellows it really does make the most sense

@AbandonedAmerica this was just too funny to skip on:

"Prigozhin was approached by the US to do a coup in Russia for billions of dollars. He tells Putin about it, Putin agrees. They keep the money." #wagnergroup

@AbandonedAmerica

I donno. But it sure makes a lot of things I've done in my life look a lot smarter!!! 💕

@AbandonedAmerica OK guys f#ck it, let's go to Moscow...
@AbandonedAmerica
*oh my head
*why am I in Belarus

@AbandonedAmerica These Russian oligarchs are not the Brain Geniuses their propaganda shills would have us believe.

Think in terms of Elon Musk with a bottle of vodka and a penal battalion.

@cstross Exactly! They’re not evil genius. Just evil.
@cstross @AbandonedAmerica maybe Putin and Lukashenko can have a cage match in a submarine just to cap off this week of ridiculous civilization-collapse posturing
@cstross I mean, I never thought he was a brilliant genius but this is just flat out ridiculous

@AbandonedAmerica
Had it been for real, and not some performative exercise of Putin's, it would have been terminal.

I wonder if Putin is getting the political payoff he was looking for?

@AbandonedAmerica oh yeah, and i don't think it's even about military expertise, it's more like Machiavelli 101: Putin must destroy him now. Destroy him and then, at leisure, get around to killing him.

@AbandonedAmerica

It's chess...but not as we know it.   ♟️

@AbandonedAmerica that or supreme confidence in the military's inability to do said map-wiping.
@AbandonedAmerica yeah, I don’t get it. The dude must know he is a target now. Also, the things he said about the war are out in the open now. Not sure what the expected outcome of all this is supposed to be.
@AbandonedAmerica
Maybe it was a game by putin see who was loyal.
@AbandonedAmerica or it was a scam. What was gained? The chef is out of Ukraine though his troops are still there. Does it let people in Russia believe Putin is still strong?
@AbandonedAmerica He fell victim to one of the classic blunders!
@AbandonedAmerica

I keep thinking
#Putin and #Prigozhin must be working together and that all of this, including the trip to Belarus, is some kind of strategic feint to flank the Ukrainian lines.

Makes about as much (or as little) sense as anything else.
@drakakis @AbandonedAmerica As someone who knows little to nothing about this, that has been my hunch too. But then, I know little to nothing.
@Citizen_Sharon @drakakis I have been guilty in the past of really overanalyzing things that are very stupid for hidden meanings and I think this is probably one of those scenarios
@AbandonedAmerica @drakakis Looking through my mentions and found this. We are over six months post Prigozhin and I still wonder... Do we have any idea happened? It's still so bizarre.
@Citizen_Sharon @drakakis I talked to a friend who knows people in the DOD, going theory is that Prigozhin wanted to force concessions but didn't think that he'd be able to progress as far as he did, which is why he stopped. Didn't want to topple the government, just wanted better treatment and things went further than he'd planned
@AbandonedAmerica
Very strange… the whole thing. No one seems to be able to make any sense of it. And now Mr. Wagner will retire in Belarus? What a mess our world is.
@AbandonedAmerica maybe that’s a clue that it could be an inside job.
@AbandonedAmerica Prigozhin better check his underwear before he puts them on, for the rest of his life.
@AbandonedAmerica No more stupid than not arresting everyone, including the political leaders, involved in a violent coup attempt on the day.
@jparcoeur who said that wasn't stupid?
@AbandonedAmerica Just emphasizing a point that might apply to a certain other country where the coup leader is still running around free.
