Air Quotes ComedianBefore I start my brain dump cavalcade on The Mission I have to ensure that everybody understands that I actually love the artists I'm about to discuss even if it doesn't seem like it.
If there's one thing Wayne Hussey can do is pump out a reasonably good tune that wont chart as well as an Andrew Eldritch ditty - as if that metric has any meaning outside of those guys particular egos.
I could never work out whether Hussey was really as miserable as his songs made out or if he was just leaning into what works for him. I suspect he's always been reasonably happy and well adjusted though.
The Mission's album 'Children' opens, essentially, with a microphone placed in a schoolyard populated with children running around and doing stuff during playtime (recess). One of those children, Sarah Jennings - who really likes to let everyone know that she is one of those kids - is quite the musician (sculpts, paints, and writes too) herself and did the vocals on a track I wrote years ago.
TL;DR: Yeah, The Mission are great.

@communalsauce woooo Poster Children rule! Junior Citizen was my and my friends' SOUNDTRACK- when we were starting bands in the mid 90s, we even learned to cover some of those songs. I gotta revisit!
