DIIV, “Air Conditioning” from Oshin (2022)

DIIV (previously known as “Dive” and still pronounced that way) are an indie, #shoegaze-y band, and Oshin, their first album, is a great introduction. The 60s-via-80s influence is palpable; they could have fallen right out of the LA #PaisleyUnderground. On this track they stretch dreamy guitar over muscular bass line and a light but driving beat in an almost hypnotic way, that if you stick with it, yields a sweet but never cloying and ultimately catchy, melodic song.

I was looking for a flac download to "re-rip" my Rain Parade album so I wouldn't have to hunt the cd down, and found they were on bandcamp, with a deluxe edition of the cd I wanted. I'll just buy it again. Check it out. Cool sound for the 80s.
