Crazy news of the day Tweetbot may be unsuspended with a super generous use cap of 1500 Tweets per month! Maybe I'll bring it back with a $1000/Tweet monthly sub?
I don’t know if it’s actually enabled or not. I went to the Twitter Dev pages to try a manual request using the various sample tools and they were all broken links.
I was actually able to login! Took me a while because I nuked all my Twitter accounts. Wouldn't let me retrieve any Tweets though, just error after error.
@paul With all the craziness over at Twitter, I wouldn't go back even if Tweetbot was reinstated. Happy with Ivory and Mastodon.
@paul That test just counted as 1501 tweets.

@paul Can I please, please, please do the PR for this release?

"Tapbots is proud to announce an exciting new product to help you deal with a harmful Twitter dependency. For the low price of $1000 per month, you can read one tweet per day. Say hello to Twitbot.”

@chockenberry @paul and a special version just for Elon, TwatBot.
@chockenberry @paul “It’s called Tweetbot, not Tweetsbot”
@chockenberry @paul make it so the only tweet you can read each day is from Elon and call it Twatbot.
@paul open source it 😈
@paul is it the case that the new free tier only allows you to post, not to read tweets?
@paul I know you’re being sarcastic, but the free tier literally only lets you POST and DELETE. Things like reverse chronological timeline return a message saying you need to upgrade to Basic. Which gives a generous 10k tweet cap.
@paul they only started enforcing the tiers and tweet cap limits last week, too.
@CaseySprague I know just weird that it still shows a Tweetcap with a counter. Those used to be only for fetches.
@paul I never deleted my copies, but no, $1000/tweet is a bit past what I'm willing to spend. (Actually, my hope is that it will be re-enabled when Twitter enters saner hands after the bankruptcy auction. And then you'll have the fun of producing a app that integrates Twitter and Mastodon support…)
@paul Sadly, the outdated copy I have on my travel MacBook did not get revived by the mistake. 😞
@paul Wow, just embarrassing. Objectively horribly run company.
@paul that’s innovation babyyyyy 🤙😎🤙
@paul read only client w/ no ads!
1500 lucky users can post by lottery every month!
@amro would work for me! I don’t post content there anyway.
@pretz i am pretty close to the same
@paul there has to be a few whales out there….
@paul truly, the overlords at Twitter are granting us a generous gift. who are we to decline.

@paul yeah, my @twitlonger account is unsuspended too.

I’m more inclined to believe they’ve accidentally restored an old backup, the same way people suddenly have 25,000 deleted tweets reappearing.

@stuart @paul ... Deleted tweets reappearing?
Dick Morrell (@[email protected])

Attached: 1 image So, again I woke up to find 28,766 restored tweets After deleting all 38,000 tweets in November After redeleting 34,000 tweets a month ago This morning 28,766 came back This IS a breach of the EU rules on data processing Please boost asap, don't like it, boost it #twitter

Terabyte Mastodon
@stuart indeed, all deleted tweets from an old account appear to have been restored. Cool cool.
@smartwatermelon fantastic, just what you want. 😳🙄
@stuart @paul @twitlonger maybe is it related to Micro.blog losing access to their API and being reinstated after they contacted support? It’s possible they blocked access to all apps (even paying ones) and the only quick workaround the minimal twitter crew found was going to an old backup and accidentally reinstated all API apps.
@stuart @paul god isn’t the Internet going great
@stuart @paul @twitlonger
I agree. With Twitter, err on the side of incompetence over minor generosity.

@stuart @paul
Weren't they going to get rid of the "block" functionality?

Maybe they deleted some common code, like back when they turned off the API, which their own web frontend also used

@stuart @paul @twitlonger ah dammit I didn’t realise my tweets had been restored. Wonder if any of the old deletion scripts still work.
@stuart @paul @twitlonger distributed system partitioned, ancient stale master rejoins and it's data overrides the current values?
@paul hang on, let me start a heavily government subsidized rocket company, and then in about 10 years, after billions of dollars in government subsidies, I will go public and by then I could easily afford that subscription !!
@paul how about a monthly lottery where all your users get a chance to win the ability for one very special tweet?
@paul Is that 1500 tweets per month per user, or 1500 period for ALL api users?
@paul This is like Lorne Michaels offering the Beatles $3,000 to reunite on Saturday Night Live. #IfYouWantToGiveLessToRingoThatsUpToYou
@paul Assuming it's not a bug, maybe someone's figured out that 3rd party app users post the most content/have more followers, and when the apps were cut off too many high-value accounts went dark? In which case … golf clap.
@paul 50 people tweeting once a day at the same time like a Traveling Wilburys of social media.
@paul My RSS feeds setup to receive Tweets all updated just about 30 or so minutes ago, too.
@paul Could make it cheaper, so there’s more subscribers. Then we just figure out a mutex token, so we take it in turns to send a tweet

@paul create a que. Every tweet gets added to the end and each month you email the current wait time for each tweet.

“Your estimated wait time for your tweet is: 307 Months”

@paul randomly select 1500 accounts each day that are allowed to send one tweet 🤪
@paul interesting. VERY interesting! Love Tweetbot!
@paul I Am Rich for tweeting.
@mergesort @paul Would it even be worth it? There's no “Sent from I Am Rich" thing anymore right?
@paul Would Apple (or Twitter) allow you to sell the app as requiring users to provide their own API keys?
@paul 1500 new tweets showed up all at once in my RSS app
